Circumcision

Post by Dj Smitty »

I've been wondering about this the past while. I am a white male, born into a christian (non practicing) family and I was circumcised at birth, as was my father, his father in England and my brother.

Since I've developed this prostatitis problem, the tip of my penis is usually very sensitive and usually very very RED. I know many of you have pain there, but I dont usually. It's more of an uncomfortable, ticklish feeling that produces a knee jerk reaction when it rubs against things. After urination or ejaculation, the top side of my tip and the opening is usually very red but has white spots on the underside if you know what I mean. It's not painful and my doctor said this was normal...but I never had this before having prostatitis symptoms.

So I'm wondering, for those of you who are cut and uncut, does this make a difference? I can see how a circumcised man might lose sensation over the years of constant friction. I wonder if I still had my foreskin if it wouldn't feel so damn irritating and uncomfortable?
Age:23 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms:Urinary hesitancy, moderate frequency, urgency and retention, slight perinneum, rectal and leg pain, frequent abdominal/bladder pain. Red/white spotty irritation on penis | Helped By:hot baths or showers, walking and moving around, pain medications | Worsened By: sitting for a long time, holding urine too long. I'd say I'm about 75% better naturally so far.

I'm uncut and I do experience this red thing. And it's very uncomfortable, from tickling to outright burning and painful. In my case, it usually comes and goes with flares-up.
Age: 31 Location: France Symptoms: right epididymis pain, testicular soreness and pain, pain after ejaculation, gulf ball in rectum (now gone), pain at tip of penis (now gone), bent penis when in pain (not Peyronie's), burning after ejaculation, weird right testicular positions, big and painful lymph nodes (now gone). Makes worse: sex, tiredness, anxiety, cold Makes better: hot climate, stretches.

It is possible that a circumcision creates some scar tissue in the meatus (tip of urethra). However, this would likely have been discovered as a young child (split stream, etc.). This is a typical symptom.
Age: 36 | Symptoms: Started with urethra/penis pain. Now have low back and posterior pelvic pain. Have been doing SP since May 2004.

I'm cut and I think there might be a connection. For as long as I can remember, my glans was very sensitive (in a bad way, not a pleasurable way). It was so sensitive that I didn't masturbate in the years when most teens masturbate. I'd start and then it'd hurt too much. When I was 21, I thought to myself, "It's so normal that I should do it too." I started and after a few months of doing it frequently, the glans began to hurt and as a result masturbation required a lot of pressure for it to work. I've never been able to orgasm during sex because it either hurts too much or requires more exertion than is comfortable for the girl or a combination of both. When I learned that this is an (uncommon) effect of circumcision it all made sense. I had assumed that all men had sensitive/painful glanses and that I had some other issue. I had thought that merely chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome was the root of the problem until I learned that most sufferers have premature ejaculation, whereas I have the opposite.

The chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome connection is not direct. My chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms developed as a result of the exertion that I put into sex and masturbation. The excessive exertion that I put into sex and masturbation is compensation for the lack of pleasurable sensitivity in my glans and the glans problem is a result of circumcision. So the root of the problem appears to be in my glans. It may also be that my subconscious tightening of the pelvic muscles is a result of my body's knowledge that it must protect my hypersensitive glans.

You seem to be self-diagnosing a lot, which can be dangerous. When you say that frequent masturbation led to UCPPS, how often were you doing it? It is true that men who indulge in very frequent masturbation are overstimulating pelvic nerves, and this, combined with a tense or anxious predisposition, seems to be a recipe for trouble. However, there are no studies supporting this theory yet.

Webslave,

I thank you for your responses to all of my posts.

I sound more certain in that last post than I actually am. Here is what I actually know:

My symptoms get worse with masturbation and better without it. By frequent masturbation, I mean once a day and often more and often twice in a five hour period. That's the best that I can do to remember. But I know that when I do it three times a week I do not have to constantly urinate. Whenever I do it, I have to urinate maybe three times afterwards and it is slightly painful. I've been told that that is normal by many people. The urination gets more frequent and painful the more I do it and there were days when it felt like it would never stop.

The relation to sex is a bit more mysterious and though I probably sound like I think I have it figured out, I know that I don't. I know that sex makes the pain and frequency increase like nothing else does and that the sex itself is not pleasant.

That's too often if you are prone to UCPPS, and you are. The rule of thumb is about 2x a week, to avoid overstimulating the nerves in the area.

Doesn't it vary for everyone? I've felt my best when I've been sexually active every day. The first couple of days are rough and then I start to adjust. However, if I'm not sexually active enough and I get, for what of a better word, horny thinking about things or being with people and don't climax, here comes the discomfort.

It does vary from person to person, but as a rule of thumb, it's best to stick to what is known to be the general average for the adult male population. Unusually frequent sexual climax can be a recipe for trouble. But as with all things, YMMV.
