Zyrtec

Post by blacklaw »

While I think this has been mentioned before, I just wanted to convey my own personal experiences with Zyrtec. I have some very severe allergies and after trying a few anihistamines, my allergist put me on Zyrtec. While the Zyrtec did a very nice job in controlling the allergic response, I did notice that slowly but surely I was beginning to suffer a flareup. When I was able to see my allergist, I was pretty much in a full flareup of my original condition. I mentioned it to the allergist and he immediately told me to go off the Zyrtec, and he explained that any antihistamine could cause a problem, however some less than others. He put me back on Allegra and told me to stick with it (the 2nd generation antihistamines take about a week or two to work with me). The flareup has slowly begun to receed(of course I am also doing a lot of stretching and meditation these days.) While each person is different, I thought I would share my experience. I was on 10mg a day of Zyrtec.

Just to give you guys some progress. Due to some really bad allergies I had to go back to the Zyrtec. I have been on it for 4 weeks...no problems yet. Very strange.

How long were you on the first course of Zyrtec before stopping it because of concerns about it worsening your CP/CPPS?
This is not medical advice. Please consult your physician.

The first time, I was on it for three weeks and really had problems. At this point four weeks, actually going on five I am going through my normal chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome stuff, nothing out of the ordinary. (keeping my fingers crossed)
