Anyone have a PT in Phoenix?

Post by charker »

Hello

Does anyone know of a PT in Phoenix?

Let me explain my history a little bit. I called the local IC support group for a referral and after a few phone calls found somebody in Scottsdale. He claimed to be familiar with "headache in the pelvis". He told me my problem was not the prostate and gave me some exercises to do externally. One was good because it treats a muscle (?) that is found on my left lower abdomen. It starts around the top of the left pelvis and seems to run for a few inches diagonally down towards the penis. I find this muscle has a lot of sensitivity. when I wake up at nite feeling the need to urinate this muscle is OFTEN irritated (maybe pressed upon by bladder). I massage it with some techniques I've learned the last few days from the "trigger point therapy workbook" by Clair Davies. The last few days of self massage have helped relax me. But Clair Davies skips over "intrapelvic massage". And the PT in Scottsdale didn't offer me any internal massage. Since I have rectal burning and golf ball symptoms (although less than I used to since this prostatitis started in earnest a year ago) I think id like to see somebody who showed me how to do the internal massage.

soon I'm going back to the uro for 6 month check-up. after trying antibiotics etc. last summer without results he put me on cardura (8mg). I no longer have any hesitation or slow stream but the frequency/fullness problem profoundly depresses me and affects my quality of life. my psa was not bad last summer (I'm 48yrs) (between .9 and 1) and I will see results of new psa when I go in for next appt. unfortunately, I'm thinking about prostate cancer almost continuously throughout day and nite while awaiting this appt. my prostate size is below average according to my last DRE in January.

I have perineum tightening, rectal burning, penile burning after urination, rectal irritation after bowel movement. but all these symptoms have improved with lifestyle changes and a committment to exercise and relaxation over the last year. where id really like to see some improvement is with the frequency and waking up during the nite (1, 2 or even 3 times but not necessarily with enough urge to have to get up to urinate each time just discomfort)

honestly, I don't think id really worry about prostatitis if I didn't make an intuitive connection to prostate cancer. I have other health problems like IBS and knee problems that seem less threatening to me.

A bad PT is worse than no PT at all

I'd be careful before putting all my eggs in the PT basket. There are many fine posts on this site about diet changes, stretches, yoga, relaxation, and exercize. I'd apply them first
