Does natural medications really help?

Post by Pelican »

Since I've been on every antibiotic possible I thought that I would try what nature has to offer. I have tried cernilton(bee pollen) for a month now without results and by looking through posts on this site no natural supplement really seem to be of any help. Today I bought a three month supply of a medicine(curbicin) containing pumpkin seed and saw palmetto, has this helped anyone?
I know most of you recommend quercetin but I havent been able to find it here in Sweden and I think ordering for example any accredited quercetin product from the states gets too expensive.
So what has helped you and what has not?

Have you read my post on extra virgin olive oil? It's worked for me. I think it works as an anti-inflammatory.

Quercetin was a real turning-point for me. I found it gave real relief. I'm not sure what the current thinking is on Saw Palmetto - my urologist recommended it so it can't be too much good. I think these things work better on some than others but I would really recommend quercetin.

What dose and brand of quercetin are you taking and do you have a source in the UK?
I tried the Quercetin for a while but found the cost to the UK prohabitive, but if you have a generic source of quercetin you could reccommend I would like to try it.
Thanks.

Quercetin and any accredited quercetin product did absolutely nothing for me. In fact I don't think any of the supplements (Bee Pollen, Beta Sitosteral, Quercetin, Saw Palmetto, Flax Oil, Fish Oil, Grape Seed Extract) did anything but cost me money and false hope.

Quercetin doesn't work for all but is worth a 30-60 day try.
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.

Studies have shown that any accredited quercetin product helps around 70% of sufferers. Helped me!
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

How does Quercetin work? If the muscles are the reason for CPPS, and not the prostate, I dont understand how it would work? Is it an anti inflammatory?
Age 21.. | Symptoms: Extreme discomfort in bladder, and lower abdomen.. To the point that I can't sit still, and sleep, can't do anything.. The only that will help is getting into the bath... Urinary frequency, Urinary hesitancy, sometimes taking a few minutes to get just a little bit out.. Sometimes lower back pain when I lay down at night.. Never have the golf ball feeling everybody talks about, and never have a problem sitting down.. Helps: Hot baths, Xanax (but makes me extremely tired), stretching (it seems like only sometimes), pain killers (ex: Percocet, but if I take them, they end up making me worse the next days following, probably due to the urinary retention they cause).. Makes worse: Stress is the main main thing, caffeine and spicy foods too, but not really a whole whole lot.. only a moderate amount..

Most of them are a waste of your money, IMO. Quercetin, however, does help some people, but it is the exception. I take buffered vitamin C, and I believe it helps me, but this is anecdotal evidence.

You're beginning to sound like me, londoner. I like your style. BTW, did the recent terrorist attacks in your city trigger a flare-up in your CPPS/PM due to increased anxiety? I must say that I have been very impressed by the reaction of your city to the terrorism. You Brits are a tough, dignified people!
