Anything besides ultram good for CPPS pain?
I'm going through a tough period with the illness. Having had a few good weeks, the combination of internal PT work and stress at work has thrown my pelvic region into terrible daily pain. The pain gradually gets worse as the day progresses and hits its peak in the late afternoon. If I lie down in the evening it tends to get a little better. The problem I am facing in terms of pain management is that ultram only works on days that the pain isn't really bad and vicodin makes me loopy and tends to give me a strong rebound effect where I may feel good for a few hours and then really bad right afterwards. Are there any other options for pain for people with CPPS? I've started a Cox-2 drug reccomended by my doctor but that hasn't helped me so far. I fear that the stress over being in pain all the time has only added to my pelvic floor tension. I take the occasional Xanax to chill out but I don't want that to become a habit. Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Pain
Try solpadol as I've posted before
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

Try Elavil or a similar drug called mirtazapine/Remeron - you will need a doctor's script.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Man, I'm striking out. I tried Elavil and it made me a zombie and very difficult to urinate. Is it possible I need to up my dosage of ultram to make it work? Right now I take only one pill. Does ultram need to be in the blood stream more often to work effectively? Should I try taking a pill every four hours? I know some pain management says that one needs to avoid chasing the pain and to be more regular with the drug.

You only take 1 50mg capsule? Given that you can take up to 400mg a day 50mg is a pretty light dose.Wolf wrote:Man, I'm striking out. Ultram works best as well once it starts to build up in your system. I'd recommend taking 2 in the morning (100mg) and then one (50mg) in the afternoon if needed.
