Soy products

Post by Ralph »

Has anyone experienced problems eating or drinking soy food porducts? I have heard of this causing a problem for IC patients, but not specifically patients with CP.

I can't eat soy products because they are loaded with female-type plant hormones. At 45, this is the only thing that can make my skin break out when I eat it!

:(

Also, keep in mind the recent animal study that raised concerns about the safety of eating soya during pregnancy after male offspring of rats fed a chemical found in soya suffered sexual development problems.

Male rats exposed to the chemical, called genistein, while still in the womb and later through breastfeeding developed large prostate glands and small testes and were unable to mate.

Although the finding does not prove genistein is harmful to humans, scientists at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Maryland who conducted the research are calling for more studies.

Soya Milk made my throat swell up and my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome flare the time I tried it, never again!

Does anyone have problems with regular of low fat milk other than lactose reactions? I've been drinking soy milk in the mornings and I think it's been giving me trouble. Something has and it's hard to nail down.

I cannot drink cow milk at all. Definitely gives me pelvic symptoms. I suggest rice milk (in moderation), not soy milk.

You get used to the taste! :58_83:

Rice milk?? Never heard of it, bit I'll look for it. I'm sure it tastes great.

I think the soy has been causing my recent problems. I was doing very well, but started drinking soy milk mixed with bannanas and berries in the mornings. My pelvic symptoms started flaring up and I couldn't figure out why. It could be the soy. The bannanas and berries I've had before without problems.

Most health food stores, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, etc carry this product or similar.

I have noticed a problem with Soy milk as well! Especially if I drink it late at night -I will wake up 2-3 times that night to urinate. Nothing else does this to me, not even alcohol. Very strange. I thought the stuff was good for you!
