Interesting question about pain killers...
Hey everybody.. When your on pain killers like percocet, or oxycontin, I see that it can cause urinary retention. If I take for an example a percocet, the next day I end up having to urinate more than usual, not getting as much out... Until about a two months ago, I used to take percocet and oxycontin for around a year in the half, atleast a couple days a week. I have not taken one for a couple mos now. Anyways, I took a percocet yesterday, and today noticed my symptoms seemed a little worse. I'm wondering do you think that for taking these for so long, and then stopping, do you think that in any way being on for so long can cause cp? I mean maybe I was on them for so long that it just built up more and more? IDK, just wondering what you guys think.
Age 21.. | Symptoms: Extreme discomfort in bladder, and lower abdomen.. To the point that I can't sit still, and sleep, can't do anything.. The only that will help is getting into the bath... Urinary frequency, Urinary hesitancy, sometimes taking a few minutes to get just a little bit out.. Sometimes lower back pain when I lay down at night.. Never have the golf ball feeling everybody talks about, and never have a problem sitting down.. Helps: Hot baths, Xanax (but makes me extremely tired), stretching (it seems like only sometimes), pain killers (ex: Percocet, but if I take them, they end up making me worse the next days following, probably due to the urinary retention they cause).. Makes worse: Stress is the main main thing, caffeine and spicy foods too, but not really a whole whole lot.. only a moderate amount..

Re: Interesting question about pain killers...
I can tolerate anticholinegric drugs such as antihistamines, etc., but I CANNOT take hydrocodone or any meds in its family without experiencing 1) severe constipation (they inhibit peristalsis) and 2) urinary retention which requires self-intermittent catheterization. Narcotics are terrible drugs that should be avoided unless absolutely necessary for relief of intense pain.BG0013 wrote:Hey everybody.. I agree, if I knew how bad they truly were I never would've touched them. Do you think its possible they can cause this, or have something to do with it?

I think they could exacerbate your condition, but I doubt they could cause CPPS.BG0013 wrote:I agree, if I knew how bad they truly were I never would've touched them. Do you think its possible they can cause this, or have something to do with it?
