Drop of blood after a bowel movement?

Post by GARYS »

This has happened to me a few times over the years, but today after a bowel movement I seen a little bit of red blood in the toilet, which I probably wouldnt really worry about, but for the [ast 3 weeks or so I have also been very tired all the time. Is this very common to see a little bit of blood after a bowel movement. Ill have to wait until I go again and see what happens. The other times that it has happened it was just the on time. Just curious

Gary, It's probably just a small hemorrhoid, and the straining of the bowel movement has caused it to bleed slightly. Probably no more than that. I've had it myself on occasions. If it increases, and happens more often then it would be worth getting it checked out, just to be on the safe side, but if it's only occasionally and a small amount I wouldn't worry about it. First time I had it it scared the hell out of me!

Thanks Neil!! Its bad enough to suffer from CPPS, but then you add things like that and it does scare you. I'm trying to not let myself become a hypocondriac but I dont think I'm doing a very good job. I guess anyone who has these types of problems seems to blow the smaller things out of proportion (I know I do)

My 3 year old had that last year and it scared the hell out of me too. Anal fissures are common, especially when the stool is hard. Because it is internal, it does not heal easily. Basically, we had to give my daughter stool softener for weeks before it finally went away, because prior to this, it would go away, and then come right back a few days later.

I couldn't say much about you being tired all the time, but anything like this is worth checking out with the doctor if it persists. A doctor could easily look in your rectum and see if there is a fissure or hemhorroid. But you might want to go with the stool softener route first just to see if it heals on it's own.
