Vasectomy

Post by ddarcher »

Does anyone have info on whether a vascectomy helps/harms prostatits symptoms? Often after ejaculation I get a stong pain and pressure feeling in my testes and the tubes leading from them to the urethera. It feels like there's a blockage there. I find that a heating pad or very hot bath before sex helps. Seems that if there is a partial block, a vascectomy would help. Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of a vasectomy helping chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms. OTOH, I have heard of a vasectomy causing CPPS symptoms
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

post vasectomy pain

Post by vitiris »

I would not have a vasectomy. I had a vasectomy about 3 weeks ago, and I'm having the exact problem you described. After ejaculation, I'm in so much pain it's unbearable. I'm on anti-biotics because my doctor thinks it's just an infection. I'm almost positive it's not an infection, and from what I've read now, my pain will never go away.

If you do have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome Chances are you are correct.

Not neccessarily. Read the main site, and the success stories forum on this site. If indeed you do have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (you really need to have this disgnosed specifically to be sure), most men can have a significant improvement in their symptoms following an accurate diagnosis and specifically targeted treatment strategy.

I suppose that so soon after a vasectomy there could be factors other than chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome causing your symptoms, but you would really need to discuss this with your Uro.

Dr Shoskes web page is a very good place to start reading:

Update on my vasectomy

Post by vitiris »

I wanted to update you on my experience with vasectomy and what might be a small case of prostatitis. I didn't have any problems before the vasectomy, and I know this might not even be the same topic as the original question, but if you haven't had the vasectomy performed, I thought you might be interested in my story. I haven't been diagnosed with anything wrong with my prostate (although my urologist did not check it). I've had a small constant pain for 5 straight weeks now. It seems to be lessening each week. I now wear an athletic supporter 24/7 which helps tremendously when I'm walking. I have had several ejaculations since my original one when I had immense pain. That pain hasn't happened with any of these ejaculations. The only thing that happens is that my testicles get very tender and feel like they are bruised. It also seems that my vas deferens get swollen a little (not exactly sure of this, but something tends to swell). I'm taking 600mg of Ibuprofen 3 times a day. I just started doing this so I don't know if it has helped yet. From talking to other people (and my urologist for the 5th time), they think I might have a sperm granuloma. From researching that, it's possible that's what I have. Dealing with the prostate: I've had a start/stop problem when I go to the bathroom and sometimes it takes about 15-20 seconds before I start urinating. I've been on 2 different antibiotics and neither have helped my pain. The bathroom problem comes and goes. I had a real bad bout of it for 1 solid week, but since then it has decreased and just happens once every other day or so. This is why I was worried about prostatitis (my dad had prostate cancer about a year ago). I know there are no solid facts about prostate problems related to vasectomies, but you have to wonder how many men have prostate problems as well as problems with their vasectomies. I will take back my statement about "my pain will never go away." I've emailed a guy who just got over his pain (1 year from his vasectomy). I'm hopeful and trying to stay positive. Thanks for the posts and the extra reading on the subject. Good luck if you choose to continue with the vasectomy. If you do have a vasectomy, make sure and research it thoroughly and ask all kinds of questions.
