PT Dilemma, advice needed
I have Stamford PT done twice a week (lucky to live in NYC) but have wondered for a while about one thing- I have significant tightness and residual pain after ejaculation which usually lasts into the next day (typical I know). Should I try to abstain from ejaculation the day before PT to keep the muscles relaxed so I can more easily adress TPs, etc or should I ejaculate before so I can work on the trouble zones that get tight after ejaculation during PT more effectively. any wisdom would be appreciated.
Age:22 | Onset Age:16.5 | Symptoms: Pain with extended sitting, Pain shortly folllowing urination, mostly above pubic bone, Pain after defecation mostly around external sphincter, Pain after ejaculation mostly in Urethra | Helped By: Progressive and Moment to Moment Relaxation, Stretching, Bed Rest (laying down and relaxing muscles), Hot Baths, Hot Showers, | Worsened By: Alcohol (variably), Ejaculation, Urination, Defecation, Stress, Extended Sitting, Sleeping in the wrong position, tensing my muscles while writing or doing anything else stressful/intense, Progress: 65%, basically only dealing with post-ejaculatory pain, onset after about an hour, peaks for 3-6 hours and then remains sore for a day.

That's an interesting question. I say that because I had the same dilemma myself regarding some internal TP's that got worse with exercise. I'd say the answer is BOTH:
1) It was helpful to have my trigger points irritated and in pain, so that when I went to PT it was easier to find the spots to work on
2) Most of the time, however, I'd prefer to keep things as quiet as possible, and not put myself through undo pain; this allowed me to relax better through therapy
So you can probably do it either way, and get benefit.

This is NOT medical advice. I am NOT a doctor.
