Pain after erections?

Post by kevin »

I know pain after ejaculation is common, but anyone here experience increased symptoms after prolonged erection? I do, and I'm wondering how much of an effect nighttime erections have on my pain the next day. Does anyone know how long one is typically erect during sleep?
Started: Spring 2003; high urinary frequency and pain associated with bladder filling; urinary hesitancy; pubic/prostate/perineal discomfort; Helped by: trigger point therapy, Afrin nasal spray, Cymbalta, hydrocodone (small doses), distraction. Makes worse: sex.

What's normal? From this website
Three to five erections per night are normal. NPTR shows age-specific variations: total erect time during sleep peaks at the age of puberty, when as much as 20% of total sleep time may be spent with an erection. In the second decade of life, the average duration of a nocturnal erection is approximately 30 minutes. Likewise, rigidity of nocturnal events diminishes with age.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I find I have more pain after a prolonged erection, especially at night if I wake up and have had one a long time. Likewise, if my wife and I start getting intimate, and are interrupted by our newborn, I find I am much more sore after that, due to the lengthened time of arousal. The length of time required to cause pain has gotten longer over the last few months; in the very beginning, an erection would cause immediate pain.

I am also sensitive to nocturnal penile tumescence. The longer they last the more pain I have the next day.
A SSRI like Prozac definitely helps reduce the intensity of those.

Same here. Erection, and in particular prolonged erection (like at night) induces pain. "Active" nights leads to major pain in the morning. Those pains are mostly testicular and epidydimitis, although they can sometimes (but rarely) be in the penis.
Age: 31 Location: France Symptoms: right epididymis pain, testicular soreness and pain, pain after ejaculation, gulf ball in rectum (now gone), pain at tip of penis (now gone), bent penis when in pain (not Peyronie's), burning after ejaculation, weird right testicular positions, big and painful lymph nodes (now gone). Makes worse: sex, tiredness, anxiety, cold Makes better: hot climate, stretches.

Agreed. testicular and epidydimitis are my typical morning symptoms. The prostate pain and rectal pain usually shows up after being awake for a while and/or sitting too long. I think my pain is also worse if I sleep in the buff, as this causes more opportunities for arousal when moving around.
