Interesting question about trigger points and pt!

Post by BG0013 »

Hey everyone. I was just thinking that in my case I dont really remember being real stressed out and depressed when I came down with this... Is it possible to have these symptoms from something else? For an example, when I was younger, I remember my chain on my bicycle popped and with the bar bein between my legs and hitting me in my testicles, hurting very bad... Could've something like that did this? And maybe PT also helps that? I'm just wondering, I am always under some stress with work so I'm sure it played a part... Either way the end result is the same, I'm just curius though
Age 21.. | Symptoms: Extreme discomfort in bladder, and lower abdomen.. To the point that I can't sit still, and sleep, can't do anything.. The only that will help is getting into the bath... Urinary frequency, Urinary hesitancy, sometimes taking a few minutes to get just a little bit out.. Sometimes lower back pain when I lay down at night.. Never have the golf ball feeling everybody talks about, and never have a problem sitting down.. Helps: Hot baths, Xanax (but makes me extremely tired), stretching (it seems like only sometimes), pain killers (ex: Percocet, but if I take them, they end up making me worse the next days following, probably due to the urinary retention they cause).. Makes worse: Stress is the main main thing, caffeine and spicy foods too, but not really a whole whole lot.. only a moderate amount..

well i've allways been an 'active' kinda person and a very active kid. Got myself in the ER many times ha ha - I think we've all had the post/skateboard/rail between the legs a few times and I don't really think it makes any difference. Perhaps don't dwell on why this happenned too much but more on what it is you need to do to make it go away.

Depression isn't the only cause imho. I wasn't depressed when all started for me (althrough it was a stressful period, I managed it).
In my case, I think the trigger was an infection, that evolved in CPPS, maybe because of a more long standing chronic fatigue. I remember on a French forum a guy that had all started with a fall on his coccyx. Others have it started because of car accident.

I agree with chewymix, the trigger is not important. What's important is how we can heal. Depression often comes with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome because of the pain, the lack of support from doctors, the lack of understanding of close ones etc ... However, depression can be the consequence of CPPS, and you might have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome wihout ever having been depressed and without getting depressed.

What's sure is this : stress increase symptoms, and you might not be able to understand what triggered your CPPS. You can just try to heal. Don't focus too much on depression if you feel that doesn't apply to you, it is sure that it's not the only trigger of CPPS.
