OK very odd question I know and most likely very dificult to quantify but from general observations is it possible to smell inflammation? I have started to notice a pattern where during a day when my pain may be worse than others there is a definate 'sweetness' in the smell of urine. I do not have any urological type issues or urological pain however this is something I have noticed over perhaps the last 6 months or so.
I am curious as if anyone else has noticed anything similar

I noticed something similar to this but it was early on when my symptoms were at their worst. My overall symptoms have reached a tolerable level at this point (most of the time), and I haven't noticed the smell to my urine recently, but it definitley was there at one time. I was never able to pinpoint it to anything in particular.
Age: 40 Symptoms for seven years; Symptoms include: subrapubic & genital discomfort; perrenial pain, feeling like groin is swollen, problems with urinary frequency are resolved; helped by: abdominal stretching, Theracane work on abdomen, light exercise (nordic track); worsened by: sitting and office work
