IC

Post by inflamed »

Hello my young sister (17)has been getting some menacing syptoms, burn on urination, frequent urination, shes been throu the docs favourite antibiotics, without sign of infection and is making another appointment. I've tried to get her to do p relaxation but this is impossible as she can't stop thinking. I'm concerned for her after what I have been thru and going thru still. I want to offer her the best advice I can, so help appreciated.

I was thinking maybe I could see if she had any trigger points on her abdominals.

Get her to start taking an antihistamine, see if that helps.

Tell her to stop eating acidy foods, see if that helps

She drinks her 2 litres of water a day, is this recommended?

Am I missing anything?

I was diagnosed with IC for a while. Actually, kind of misdiagnosed. It was weird - the initial diagnoses was made with no test or anything and I was put on Elmiron (which I found out by 2 IC experts here in St. Louis only has about a 36% success rate - which is barely above placebo level). Then I had the cystoscopy with hydro. It showed a perfect and healthy bladder. I had no frequency, no bladder pain, no urgency, no nocturia, and I tried all of the "trigger foods" (cranberry juice, coffee, coke) with no problems. All I had was burning urination. Try to see a specialist in IC for best results. My first Uro was just trying to come up with something. After I had a major problem after drinking some wine (major meaning burning, discharge, etc) A different Uro immediately changed the diagnoses to prostatitis.

*This is not medical advise, just part of my own story. By all means consult with at least one doctor.
Age: 39, recovered.

Getgatso, unfortunatly my countries (free) health care system is a bit in the dark ages, example I want to go and see a urologist, but will have to wait 14 months
