abdominal massage/ flare up?

Post by GARYS »

The most I can get my wife to do is push around on my abdominal muscles and kind of massage that area (since we have 2 small children and not a lot of time). She has done this about 3 x in the past week, and I have been feeling a little worse. Do you think this would be worth continuing or if shes not doing it correctly could I just be causing tender muscles and or TPs to act up?
Thanks
Gary

From what I can gather, any form of trigger point work leads initially to a worsening of symptoms, which is, in a way, positive news, for then you are at the very least sure that the etiology is neuromuscular.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

My abdominals were as bad as my internal muscles. After many months of internal PT, massaging my abdominals now causes worse flare ups than any other activity. I backed off from it initially, but eventually prevailed and now am able to work on them without causing tremendous pain. The flare ups are still there, but they aren't as bad.

If you and your wife are limited on time, why don't you get a massage implement like a Theracane and do the abdominals yourself? This tool is so incredibly helpful that I don't even waste time having the PT do it any more. With this time freed up, your wife can help with the internal work, while you do the external work while you are watching TV some other time.

Thanks for the answers. Is there a link on this site to buy a Theracane? Where do you get them?
Thanks,
Gary

I'm certain this topic has been asked before. Just search for Theracane and I'm sure you'll come up with some sites. I got mine for $35.
