Substantial Relief from post-urinary pain and congestion
Like many others on this board suffering from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome I experienced pain after urination for about two years, it would usually start with an in-voluntary clenching of the pelvic floor muscles after I finished urinating and for about an hour afterward I would have a general feeling of supra-pubic congestion and discomfort. Recently, upon some advice in this forum, I began simulating a squatting like position while urinating (sitting down with chest to knees and holding ankles) Once I finish urinating I usually stay in this position for 1-2 minutes breathing deeply and conciously trying to relax my Pelvic Muscles, most times I get no 'snap-back' tightening of the muscles and my post-urination pain is way down, This has also helped with my post-bowel movement pain. I have found deep breathing and light stretching after both really helps as well.
Age:22 | Onset Age:16.5 | Symptoms: Pain with extended sitting, Pain shortly folllowing urination, mostly above pubic bone, Pain after defecation mostly around external sphincter, Pain after ejaculation mostly in Urethra | Helped By: Progressive and Moment to Moment Relaxation, Stretching, Bed Rest (laying down and relaxing muscles), Hot Baths, Hot Showers, | Worsened By: Alcohol (variably), Ejaculation, Urination, Defecation, Stress, Extended Sitting, Sleeping in the wrong position, tensing my muscles while writing or doing anything else stressful/intense, Progress: 65%, basically only dealing with post-ejaculatory pain, onset after about an hour, peaks for 3-6 hours and then remains sore for a day.
