Anti-Anxiety Supplements

Post by CppsDad »

I have a lot of problems with anxiety, either as a pre-cursor to chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or as a result of it, I'm not sure which (although at this point both feed off each other). I have a prescription for Xanax, but I like to take it as little as possible (no more than once a week if I can help it), so as not to have any addiction issues. My anxiety has gotten better over time as I have learned the skills to relax. However, I'm still looking for some ideas on the best natural recipes for anxiety. I don't want to get on Paxil or other anti-depressant, as Prozac made me sick as a dog, and I don't think at this point that my anxiety symptoms are severe enough any more to warrant medication (they were severe enough early in the year).

What supplements, food items, etc... do you guys recommend for anxiety?

Mike

It didn't really do anything for me but St Johns Wort is used a lot in Europe.

Popular supplements for anxiety include valerian, kava kava, and chamomile. Certainly avoid caffeinated coffee and soda as well as chocolate which contains theobromine (a xanthine derivative), a stimulant very similar in its chemical structure to caffeine and theophylline.
