I would present our experience on the topic chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and TURP. In the 1997-99, we performed 11 TURP in patients not obstructed but strongly painful. In the most of cases (it isn't been a scientific trial), we have had a very bad results, mostly on the 6 months after surgery. We have leaved this kind of therapy. Also in patients with prostatitis and IPB, we try to defer the surgical therapy, after the improving of prostatitis. A different point of view is to perform a TUIP (trans urethral incision prostate) in young and obstructed patients with prostatitis. We are evaluating the results of these patients. Therefore, how to comment upon the referred history of a German patient? In surgery all it's possible and maybe this patient had a focal prostatitis very close or around the urethra and the disease could be removed by TURP.

Had TURP 3 months ago and it helped a lot. Still some pain in legs, but urination is good. Dr. said prostate was normal size but pathology report confirmed prostatitis. In my case TURP was helpful. My erections and sexual functions are perfect.

TURP will help with urination if you have BPH.

I didn't have BPH, I was diagnosed CP/CPPS. It's going to be 4 months from my TURP. Abdominal and inner thigh pain came back. But I'm positively sure that is related to frequent orgasms, like 2-3 in a week. It seems like frequent orgasms cause flare ups. But, I insist, in my case TURP definitely helped with urinary flow. the muscle/nerve theory seems to be correlated to several factors, including bacterial infection as a trigger. When I get these abdominal/inner thigh pain Uroxatral helps. By the way, in my case TURP didn't 100% of retrograde ejaculation, semen stills comes out through urethra.

I had a TURP, long overdue, to relieve serious bladder neck obstruction (dysfunction). It solved that problem wonderfully, but had no impact on my CPPS.
