Meds: Klonopin vs Valium

Post by lukesky »

My doctor is considering putting me on Klonopin and/or Zoloft. I have a lot of anxiety, depression and OCD. My muscles are so tight in the rectum area that I can barely achieve erections and can't sleep at night. Will the Klonopin (anti-anxiety drug) be as effective on the muscle tension as is Valium as others have mentioned on this site???

Each of the SSRI anti-depressants have a lot of side effects. Mostly for men are insomnia and sexual dysfunction. Zoloft I am told is one of the worst for those. I have tried Celexa, Prozac, Paxil and Wellbutrin, all caused my already bad insomnia to get worse and literally destroyed my sex life.

I am currently taking Buspar, for anxiety, no side effects but not as new a drug as the SSRIs. I am only 10 days in and it can take up to 3 weeks to see if it works...so far so good...

I tried the antidepressants and hated them. The klonopin I took for several months at one point and it worked pretty well. It is similar to valium. I took just a bit, I think it was 5mg at bedtime. Unfortunately I had side effects unrelated to ED and had to stop. I liked it.

Each person reacts differently to medications. Some people have liked and had success with Zoloft and others have not liked it. You won't know until you try.

I was prescribed sinequin, a tricyclic. It works with valium very nciely.
SSRI usually does not agree with me.
