My telephone conversation with Dr. David Wise
I have been toying with the idea of going to Stanford in the fall to the workshop. Those of you who are familiar with my story know that when I came down with this, my first symptom was E.D and low libido. I had a lot of the tightness, (golf ball) and some testicle pain, along with some lower back pain, and slow urine. Over the years, my pain, has diminished to almost none. However, my E.D, and low libido, wich has gotten better, still remains. I got up the gut's to call Dr wise and left him a message on his answering machine. To my complete amazment, the man called me back within two hours. not an assistant, not a secretary, but the doctor his self. He asked me many questions, the most important being, what is your main complaint? E.D and libido was my answer hands down. Pain is not that big of an issue for me anymore. Wise told me that if I were an hour away, and had the money to blow, then he would say come in the fall. However, considering I do live in Ohio, and it would be my life savings to do this, he reccomended that I not attend. Imagine, a doctor that, was not looking to take my money, if he wasn't sure if he could help me. .. 'wow, he talked to me for some twenty min, giving advise to me, that he didn't have to do, and was a comfort that I have never got from a doctor. I dont think he doubted, the fact that I had a pelvic floor problem, but told me that the results of the protocol on E.D are unclear. He said that the protocol could not hurt, but might not want to burn the cash considering what I told him. I dont know what this means for me know??? sexual behavior specialist?... Anyway, either way it goes, hats of to the good doc, who also told me to call him back if I needed anything else! You guys in pain need to get to him. He is a great doc, and one hell of a nice guy.

I can confirm that David Wise is a man of integrity, highly trustworthy, and quite unlike many of the people who claim to be able to treat men with chronic pelvic pain. Of course it helps that he's associated with a superb urologist like Rodney Anderson, who just happens to hail from Stanford, one of the country's very best universities (as does David Wise). Now add the fact that he has someone like Tim Sawyer working with him - surely the world's foremost expert in finding and treating male intrapelvic trigger points ...
It's a potent nexus of skills: Psychological, Urological and Physiotherapeutic, quite unique in the world at this point.

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I've had email correspondence with Dr Wise recently and I'm continually pleasantly surprised by the speed and thoroughness of his responses. He's incredibly genuine and does really care about other sufferers.

When I speak to DW, I feel like I'm talking to a friend.
I am quite convinced that he is not motivated by money. If he was, he could probably charge a lot more for the clinics than he does.

I attended the July clinic in California, and am not surprised in the slightest to read the comments above (I'll post a report when I get a bit more time).
The Stanford team:
(i) Genuinely care about people with pelvic pain,
(ii) They understand EXACTLY what is going on and are able to empathise with patients, and
(iii) Most importantly, their diagnistic process and treatment strategy are effective because they address the root causes of the problem.
I think a major factor in all of this is that, apart from their integrity, caring personalities, and excellent clinical skills, Both Dr Wise and Tim Sawyer have both suffered (and recovered) from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome themselves. As Mark points out it is an excellent multidisciplinary approach, but although many probably don't 'buy' the muscle spasm theory, they know that this is the major cause of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms in men. In time and with more research this will become more widely accepted.
