CT Scan with IV Contrast of pelvis and clindamycin

Post by LifeInTurmoil »

My urologist wants me to go for a CT Scan in which they inject contrast into you. I have had chronic prostatitis for almost 10 months now that has been making my life an ABSOLUTE HORROR. Everytime I go off of antibiotics, which I have taken for a total of 8 months already, blood always reappears in my semen upon ejactulation as well as small scabs. A culture test of my semen shows nothing except bacteria which live on the skin and my uro told me that only clindamycin shows as having the ability to kill them. He told me we could try this after my CT scan if nothing shows up, but I know that other people who killed this skin-living bacteria did not feel any better after this. Also, the culture test was done only 6 days after finishing a 4 month supply of Levaquin when there was no blood present in my semen. I brought in another sample of my semen after 2 weeks off of antibiotics, which contained blood, but my uro did not want to do another culture of this as he felt it would yield nothing. He believes that being off of the Levaquin for 6 days was long enough to wait to do the culture test. I do not fully agree with this! My questions are:
1.)Would doing a CT scan of my pelvis with IV contrast injection be worthwile doing or is there a better test than this. I have already had a cystoscopy and rectal ultrascan done. Nothing showed up except that I do have crystals in my prostate.
2.)Should I even bother trying the clindamycin, which can sometimes be a dangerous antibiotic ,(can cause colitis), to use. I have used it in the past for something else with no problems, but I was not on other antibiotics for 8 months prior to this!!
3.) Do you think that 6 days after stopping 4 months of Levaquin is long enough to wait before doing a culture test of semen?
Thanks for your help guys. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
These days it takes all my energy to grapple with the constant pain and burning in my prostate and rectum and the constant urination at night. Many times, I have to admit, I pray for death to relieve me of the constant torture. If it weren't for my very loving girlfriend of 16 years I don't know what I would do to myself!!
PS: I am already on a bunch of supplements...saw palmetto, zinc, bromelain, quercetin, cranberry caps, multivitamin, etc. I also take uroxatral once a day, and Pyridium for burning as well as Lortab-10,(a narcotic pain killer), only when I feel I really need them. Nothing really seems to help much!!
PSS: Anyone know when the best time to take quercetin is? Before a meal, during, or after? Someone once said 20 minutes before a meal, but I'm not sure if this is correct. I would love to try Quercetin, but it is quite expensive for me right now and I don't trust the mail service in my area too much these days. I live in New York City.....

I am not a doctor, but 1) find a new urologist, like Moldwin in Philly (search this forum for "Moldwin" 2) stop antibiotics, 3) CT scan is a waste of time in my opinion 4) any accredited quercetin product is FREE for the first month (see https://ucpps.men/https://ucpps.men ) 5) blood in ejaculate is not significant if there is no cancer 6) skin bacteria are usually a contaminant.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Firstly, why are you taking cranberry supplements when cranberry is a very well-known trigger for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome patients?

Secondly, has your urine ever tested positive for uropathogenic bacteria (a PROVEN urinary tract infection)? If not, you probably don't have the extremely rare chronic bacterial prostatitis. Read the following classifications:
https://ucpps.men/nih-definition-of-prostatitis-and-CPPS

You are jeopardizing your health by taking antibiotics for so long. EIGHT months for goodness sake! Please, read all of this archived forum and https://ucpps.men carefully, and stop abusing antibiotics.
