I have found six PT that deal with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or PFD none of which are knowledgeable of Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol but all have knowledge of the myofascial trigger point therapy and what goes on there as well as electricial stim, stabilizing the external pelvis, home exercises if needed and biofeedback only when I get the muscle tone down and if I need to strenghten the muscles after that. I have brought up all of these therapies and all of them seem to have good knowledge espically the internal work that is what I have asked the most about.
This brings me to my questions some seem to talk about the myofascial trigger point more and I have to bring up the electrical stim. Other talk about electricial stim more and I had to ask about the internal work but it was not like they did not know what I was saying like so many doctors I have seen who look like I am weird or something anyways they say a evaluation must take place to check external areas as well as internal areas to deem the best therapy.
QUESTIONS
What advice can be given to me that I might call them back to see if they are the best?
I know about the levator ani muscle but what other muscles can I ask about inside my rectum in my pelvic floor one PT said like 3 more on top of levator ani but I can not remember I am kicking my self now?
Have most just had myofascial trigger point therapy with external therapy or have most had these two things along with electrical stim and ultrasound and deep heat and ice therapy?
Last question has to deal with the money do most find that pt is covered by insurance or do most have to pay out of the pocket I know all insurance is different but just wondering I know one place I called you pay out of pocket $160 for evaluation $80 for each visit does that sounds normal alittle high in my mind?
ANY HELP I CAN GET WOULD HELP ME GREATLY AND I WOULD BE GREATFUL FOR IT
THANK YOU

Read Dr. Wise's essay in the best posts section for a complete discussion of the muscles involved with trigger point therapy. You can print off a copy and take it with you to the physical therapist. Stanford focuses primarily on trigger points, not electric stim. As far as cost, I pay $200 per hour session and insurance only reimburses me $25. It is very expensive, but it has been the only thing besides valium that has helped me control my symptoms. Expect to require extended treatment. I have received over 50 treatments thus far and am still not yet cured, but I am a lot better than I was a year ago. Paradoxical relaxation must be done daily along with the physical therapy for optimum results.
Age: 39 | Onset Age: 32 | Symptoms: urethral burning, increased urge to urinate, pain after sex, rectal fullness, now much better 6 years into Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol | Helped By: PT(trigger point therapy), paradoxical relaxation, valium, hot bath, stretching, Theracane | Worsened By:too vigorous sex, skipping stretches and daily relaxation
