I have been doing this "Body For Life" program which has been going really well, but I'm starting to have urinary pain again. I suspect it is because you eat protein six times a day, and I do believe this can irritate the urethra, correct? Just wanted to get another POV.
Thanks!

Well, with so much protein you'll end up with acid urine, and that could irritate the bladder. More on why these diets are inadvisable:

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Re: High Protein Diet
If you have any trigger points which refer pain to your urethra, and you have increased wither the volume or intensity of your exercise routines whilst on this programme, this may also be reponsible for your symtoms if it has agrevated the trigger point.Mark wrote:I have been doing this "Body For Life" program which has been going really well, but I'm starting to have urinary pain again. I'd make your dietary changes and see if this helps. If not, then look at modifying your exercise routine and see if this helps (and of course, get any trigger points treated!).
Hope this helps.

Age:39. Age at onset:31. Symptoms prior to treatment: Golf ball in rectum, severe urinary frequency (2-3x/hr; 5-10x/night); weak stream; painful ejaculation; coccygeal pain; tip of penis pain; general pelvic pain on left; testicular pain; supra-pubic pain. Current | Symptoms: Urinary frequency 1x every 2-3 hrs and 1-2 x a night; mild pelvic pain on left hand side (all symptoms still improving!)
Helped by: Trigger point release; avoiding exercise; pelvic floor relaxation; Neurontin decreased bladder sensitivity somewhat. Worsened by: Exercise; frequent ejaculation; ibuprofen irritates bladder. Made no difference: Diet; biofeedback; quercetin; Steroid anti-inflammatories; Elavil.
****UPDATE*** I am now able to sit again at work all day, and can perform moderate aerobic exersise again for the first time in 8 years!!!

one day...
I was on Body for life wheb I came down with this. I know of another guy on the forum who did as well.. Not saying body for life causes CPP, but it involves an extremely tough workout, and eating plan. You might not want to workout that hard... I can lift wieghts now, and run , but I do these lightly... I work out harder sometimes, but watch it seriously. I find running, and lifting, to be a tool in my fight, it helps me, but just watch it. There is no reason why hard exercise should actually cause chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome in someone. However, if someone already has trigger points etc. (which may or may not be above the threshold where they cause symptoms), then tough exercise might be the preverbial 'straw that breaks the camels back.'
I agree that if you have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome you need to play it by ear. If it helps, great - If it causes flare ups, then be sensible.
