I am interested in hearing from all who have tried: Ativan, Valium and or muscle relaxers to get the pelvic floor muscles to relax. Which ones work best and which would be best to try first. My wife recently had breast implants and the surgeon gave her some Valium to take prior to surgery. When I discovered what some of you have said about muscle tension I decided to take some of her Valium. Well, guess what? Boy did it ever work. The pain decrease almost immediately and I could almost feel my pelvic floor muscles say Aaahhhhhhh!!!!! I am very aware of the potential addictive qualities of Valium so if a muscle relaxer is better which one should I think about taking until I can get the stress in my life resolved???

Lukesky,
Initially, Valium was the only muscle relaxer that reduced my PF spasms. See this thread:
