I'm a 28 year old london based male and I'm wondering if what I have could be some type of pelvic floor dysfunction?
Started about 2 years ago when during ejaculation (with partner) I noticed my left testicle had ascended into my groin on the left side. Apart from the shock of that happening I managed to push it back down into the scrotum quite easily. It ached a bit but nothing major.
Over the course of 2 weeks or so the aching slowly faded but then I started to get a sensation along the lines of sitting on a golf ball or someother such small object. Also found that if I press the left side of my groin near my penis and release I can often feel a burning type sensation straight afterwards.
Went to my GP who bypassed the ascended tresticle and concentrated on prostate type diagnostics. Many bloods later etc he felt this was not prostate related and that it would heal on its own. It didn't and I went back to him but he said he didn't know and kinda brushed me off.
About a year ago I moved to South London and so got a new doctor. Went to see him and he referred me to a consultant (BUPA)
Saw him and had MRI's done - Slightly worn couple of disks but nothing major. Went for physio to get disks working but again no help - may of got worse. Back to consultant who sent me to pain guy. Acupuncture on back, thinking nerve root, again no joy. Had facet joing injections no change.
Roughly speaking my symptons are
Pain when sitting that is relieved when standing.
This pain feels like a burning from the perineum region and sometimes radiates down the backs of my thighs.
Groin pain is also present sometimes.
I have had my left thigh go numb on the inner side and also the left groin and penis go numb on 2 occasions (totally numb as though I have had a local)
Often when I have perineum pain I also have reduced sensation in my penis (although not totally numb)
Occasionally a pulling sensation between my groin and thigh mainly on left side but sometimes on both.
I do NOT have urgency issues and I can not 'go' for hours if required.
This all started after I had the incident of the ascended testicle so I think they are related in some way but I feel that perhaps the ascended testicle caused me to tense up down there and this has caused a knock on effect of making my pelvic floor go out of whack. If I do kegels(sp) during tension I can feel the muscles fluttering inside me. I think that these tense muscles are causing my pain and as I sit it compresses them even more. Does this make sense as I have no reason to think this is PNE related apart from the pain when sitting? I'm considering the possibility of inguinal nerve being involved too - Perhaps when the testicle ascended it did something to this nerve or caused/revealed some form of inguinal hernia?
I'm starting to look at the PT route and am wondering if anyone knows of any good pelvic floor physio's in London England?
This effects me a lot due to the pain with sitting, I work in IT, and I'm starting to get a bit tired of it all. Think I will be reading the headache in the pelvis book!!
thanks a lot

Yeah, read that AHIP. It might be a really good idea to immediately start sitting on a cushion with a hole/gap for your coccygeal-perenial area.
As far as I know youre gonna have to go to scotland to get a PFD evaluation... but dont take that as definite - I certainly havent paid close attention to the matter; just havent noticed anyone having success in finding someone in london.
And while I am not skilled in the differential diagnosis of this stuff, I think if I were you id do whatever I could to get the PFD evaluation.

Thanks for the advise! - I have been looking at getting a cushion so I think I may well try harder now!!
Do any of you guys every feel rather 'ill' with your symptons? You know like you have a virus or something? Just that a number of times I feel really tired and lethargic and want to sleep a lot!
I have ordered AHIP off amazon so hopefully it will be here soon. You say you are now pretty much pain free? What protocol did you follow to get yourself to that stage?
thanks again

Lots of things can lead to run-down tiredness and its pretty common with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome - you can find some relevant threads here with the search engines. Many people feel weary at times; a few even describe feeling like they have the flu for extended periods. Some possible mechanisms include systemic circulation of inflammatory substances, reduced sleep efficiency due to pain, chronic high levels of cortisol (a stress hormone whose level may become elevated during chronic illness or distress)... theres probably more.
I used quercetin and the methods described in AHIP.
