Just in case any UK members are wondering about Elmiron availability: I spoke to Ivax UK (who also supply Baclofen, by the way) and there are no plans to licence it here. There is no perceived demand apparently.
It is available on a named patient basis for IC meaning that your consultant needs to agree you have IC and apply to Ivax. If you are NHS the consultant will also need to get funding approved. If you are private the cost is something like £120 for 100. They were a bit vague on the last bit.
I shall drop them a line anyway to alert them to the interest of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferers.

After doing a bit more research, Elmiron actually only costs £58.75/100 in the UK (1 month's supply) and Ivax's literature actually lists 'abacterial prostatitis' as one of the drug's applications.
It also appears to have been on test around the country and so I am presuming it may be licensed for both IC and chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome in the UK - depending on results - which I think will be a first.
I just picked up a three month supply on the NHS (it can be done) and will report on progress.
If anyone using the NHS is unsure of how to approach trying Elmiron with their GP/Uro, I may have some tips. I can be contacted by replying to this or via my email below.
