Anyone who overcame spasms in in the urinary sphincters

Post by scoobysnacks »

Hey all,

I have quit lifting weights and started on Ativan and Flomax. This has really cut down on the spasm I was experiencing upon first trying to urinate. When I say spasm I mean the same type of thing you feel upon ejaculation but not quite that hard.

Now its very minimal or not there. But I still am not peeing as fast as I could or used to. The irritation symptoms or urinating arent there when the Ativan is at its peak concentration which seems to be about an hour after ingestation. when I drink some alcohol with it, I pee normal again. Suggesting I get put in a complete state of relaxation and the muscles dont tense up.

I'm going to see Dr Potts and her PT on Aug 24th. But, my question is, now that my levators seem relaxed, no pain there anymore, how come the urinary sphincters won't relax and continue to spasm periodically. Will they follow suit? Has anyone been down this road, tell me these will get better. I dont want to be muscle relaxants forever, and I really want to start bodybuilding again. Walking and swimming just isn't for me, lol. What is it gonna take to loosen these back up.

I should also note I was also diagnosed with a misaligned pelvis but it would never stay put, I just think that was natural, and I came down with an inflamed prostate way before I really ever had PFD symptoms. I think the inflamed prostate led to PFD, now I'm have no prostate pain, but plenty of PFD issues. Your thoughts and comments.

Thanks,

SS

In a word, hyperirritability. The muscle fibers have changed, and cannot become normal overnight. More:

Yes thats how I believe I developed my pelvic floor problem. I had an inflamed prostate. I hope Dr. Potss PT can find some trigger points and then relay these to my PT here in Cincinnati as how to work them out. My PT here at home has done some internal work, but I dont think its the kind in AHIP. She merely massaged my levators, which I think helped some, but I need more direct work.

Ill keep everyone up to date. I'm working this from every angle and will hopefully one day be able to post success story. Here hoping.
