constant need to urinate - muscle spasm?

Post by norprost »

My main symptom is a strong permanent feeling to urinate with mild pain/sometimes/.Can muscle spasm cause such intense urinary symptom without significant pain?
When my story started the urinary dysfunction was the only symptom for years, pain appeared years later.Nowadays when frequency improving, pain increasing on ejaculation and after urination. When I have a flare on frequency, pain almost goes away.Still thinking a lot about the explanation.I didn't find any person on this forum who has similar symptoms.Hope somebody has.
If muscle spasm is responsible would any muscle relaxant help?I'm on tizanidine/Sirdalud here/ without much success, but at least helps with sleeping.
Uro said there are different kind of muscles in the pelvis, not sure which muscle relaxant can help.

Thanks for any suggestions

Have you had your pelvic floor assessed by a myofascial release trained physio?

I had constant urinary frequency until a recent PT session treated the triggerpoint that was causing the bulk of my frequency sensation.

Richard

Is that trigger point internal or external?I'm asking because I'd like to meet the therapist who treats you,in lack of trained physio where I live and I' m 2 and half hours fly from Scotland,so I'm afraid I can't go to him every week for a long time.Is it possible for somebody to learn how to do it?Of course external treatment would be easier.

Thanks

For me the triggerpoints that resolved most of my frequency were external but for everyone it seems to be different. It took me months and months of PT to find the right one whilst for another it only took a few PT sessions.

My physio (who has also treated a number of other visitors to this forum) has his practice in Edinburgh.

I'm fortunate in that I'm just over an hours drive from Edinburgh, but he did teach my wife how to do some external triggerpoint work.

While you're waiting to fix up physio, have you thought of asking your GP about alpha blockers?

Sorry to hear that. At least you've ruled them out.
