What do doctors prescribe to make the prostate get back to normal size if it is slightly enlarged and/or possibly discharging prostate fluid.
Can anything be done physically????
Anything to keep it healthy?
How to make prostate smaller?

Hi,
As I understand it, there can be two reasons why a prostate is enlarged. In one case, it is enlarged because there is actually an excess of prostate cells. This is called benign prostatic hyperplasia. There is a drug called Proscar which can shrink the prostate, although it can take 6 months to work. If it doesn't work, a surgeon can actually slice away pieces of the prostate. The other reason the prostate could be enlarged is because it is inflamed. I don't know if Proscar would work in this case. You might take anti-inflammatories, but I am not sure. Hope this helps.

Re: How to make prostate smaller?
Interestingly, a urologist once told me after a DRE that my prostate felt enlarged and a lot like the prostate of a BPH patient. I'm not sure what to make of that since I'm too young to have BPH.Makaveli wrote:What do doctors prescribe to make the prostate get back to normal size if it is slightly enlarged and/or possibly discharging prostate fluid.

I would NOT recommend Proscar or surgery, as both cause troubling side-effects. Besides, those are for alleviating urinary frequency, which you don't have. I doubt either would help with the dysuria or clear discharge.

If anything gets inflamed, it gets larger. Quell the inflammation, quell the increase in size. Badabing badaboom!

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

If the dysuria went away on its own, then maybe in time, the clear discharge symptom will as well. There are risks of side-effects associated with any medication or surgical procedure. My advice to you is to stop worrying about your prostate, and just enjoy your life without pelvic pain. <jealous> If at some point in the future, you start experiencing pelvic pain or urinary frequency, then you should consider treatment options for CP/IC.Makaveli wrote:Well how do you qwell the size???? and the inflammation??? I havent asked my URO yet. He is out on vacation.

Mast Cells,
Hey, thanks for the advice. However, I still want to. I went through this for a reason. Whatever it was. yes, I do stress a lot. my life has not been easy, I have always had something to stress about. whether it was me thinking I had heart problems for 7 -8 years of my life, to me beinf afraid of having caught cancer from my gradmother (was a kid at this time). sometimes I do think my stress brought this upon. but anyways, thanks again for the advice. I think my uro still thinks it was an initial case of urethritis and is going to give me 1 round of anti-biotics, just in case.
