I think I know the answer to my question. But here goes...I'm an avid weight lifter, but I'm beginning to think that it is thwarting my recovery. DO any of you lift while having CPPS. I already have quit squats and leg presses and I used to do at 3X my weight, now those are gone. I've been doing mainly upper body movements but I'm not sure if this could also cause stress. Would you all stop while I make an attempt to heal from this. At this point Id say my pain is only a 1-3 range. Up until know I thought a) I had some stubborn bacteria or fungus in my prostate so didn't really put the two together. But now if this is muscular in nature....Your opinions.
Also why I have your attention...what is the best a) anti inflammatory and b) mild muscle relaxant. I see my GP on Monday and want to know what to request. I think I can convince him on the Anti f but not sure about the muslce relaxer. My thought is to relax the pelvis muscles and reduce inflammation to allow all nerves and muscle to heal. Not sure if I need to even breah the alpha blocker subject.
Thanks!

Many, many men find that weightlifting, and especially squats, cause flare-ups.
Anti-inflammatories and other helpful adjuncts are here:

Mild muscle relaxant: lorazepam (beware addiction problems, use only for a few days at a time, then take a week's break).

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

HI,
I am also an avid weight lifter. And I had the same kind of flare-ups after training, and leg training (presses, squats) were particulary bad. Too much compression of the pelvic floor, I suppose, and apparently lifting weights can release mast cells, which can cause further pain. My strategy essentially is to give up weighttraining entirely for now (going on 4 months) and to allow my body to heal. I decided to substitute yoga, and I've had great results. It's not only a great physical workout requiring a lot more strength than you might think, but there are immese benefits as well, such increasing flexibility and energy flow in the body (pelvic area included) that can not only take away momentary discomfort, but also put your body in even a better position to heal. From the Eastern perspective, illness stems from obstructed energy flow in the body, and yoga allows you to free up those areas.
I am curious what your specific symptoms are (where's the pain, etc.), and how they were exascerbated by weightraining. This might help me gain some perspective on my situation.
