CP/CPPS or pudendal neuralgia

Post by prostateman »

The symptoms are from what I have read in many cases practically identical. Pudendal neuralgia typically involves aggravation of pain when sitting and this is also a symptom many in this forum have. I have been monitoring the forum for people with pudendal neuralgia (http://pudendal.info/phpBB2/) and some of them claim to have been misdiagnosed with having prostatitis.

Is there any one in this forum that may be able to shed some light on how we may in terms of symptoms be able to distinguish the difference between chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (in general) and pudendal neuralgia?

Good point and good question.

I think that PN or PNE are not commonly diagnosed in the US. My neurologist is having a difficult time finding a specialist in PN in the DC area. The closest specialist is in Houston.
