Seating and Prostatitis

Post by shmooler »

I like many sufferers have real problems when I sit down for long periods of time. If I sit on a really soft comfy sofa the problems are minimal. If I sit on an office style chair that is when the problems start, does anyone know what causes this problem with Prostatitis?

My symptoms are a nagging ache in my left testicle area made worse as the day wears on and discomfort on the top insides of the legs. When I wake up I'm fine but as the day goes on the problems start; I have to sit at a desk and this I dread, the discomfort starts in the buttocks, they feel hot and I can't get comfortable this also makes the testicle area sore. I have been diagnosed with Prostatitis, which started as acute epididimytis last year after having two very dodgy sexual encounters while working in Indonesia.

I have been through the usual methods of treatment: antibiotics, EPS, Cystoscopy. The EPS failed to find bacteria although I know that does not mean there isn't any. I am now using Quarcetin and the herbal remedy Prostate Dr, I really don't know if they are helping cos my latest flare up started mid December and that is when I started the herbal route. Although I must say the flare up has subsided slightly. I think we really want to believe these things work but who knows.

Anyway for people who have the big problem with office chairs: I discovered that sitting on a good quality hard rounded wooden chair gives me minimal discomfort about the same amount as a sofa. I don't get the "ants in the pants" syndrome that I get with an office chair, constantly moving around to try and get comfortable. Logic would tell me that a really hard chair would be a nightmare but it's a lot more bearable. If anyone else has found this helpful let me know, I hope this might help people who have to spend long periods of time sat at a desk. One more thing has anyone used Prostate Dr from native remedies and if so what do they think?

I have tried the bladder friendly cushion offered by the womens' IC website, but it doesn't seem to help. My office chairs are armed chairs with cushions and I put the cushion on it and at first I felt quite comfortable but after a while my legs started to ache....then area near anus.
In fact, I agree with you that sitting on a hard wooden chair is more bearable as I have no problem sitting at home..and I only have wooden chairs at home.
Now I am always in pain in office.. I have tried different sitting pose, crossed legs, folded legs...but I just feel painful..very often pain extends to my lower legs....
I sometimes place a book with hard covers on my chair and it helps a bit.........

Sorry to hear the cushion doesn't work for you.
I think the latex option is FAR better

The EPS failed to find bacteria although I know that does not mean there isn’t any.
Get rid of this thinking . If they did not find bacteria there isn't any . This thinking will only slow down your finding the right way to treat this condition . Check out the sections on bacteria on this web site . You will be glad you did .
