numbness in penis

Post by KRS »

I have been dealing with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome for over five years. Only thing that has helped is Proscar. Since the inception of this problem, I have had burning on urination. A week ago the burning got more intense. At the same time, I developed a strange sensation along the side of my penis: when I urinate (and on other occasions as well), there is a narrow line of numbness along my penis (actually it feels as though a hair is being stretched along my penis and pressed against the skin). Any ideas on what this might mean?

I too have had some strange sensations in the penis area. Best way to describe it..

1. Slight burning at the very tip, but not usually when I urinate
2. A feeling that there is urine "caught up" in the penis just waiting to come out. A kind of tingling.
3. When I bend over or get out of the car I notice this more

I have no idea why this is. I'm on Flomax, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I'm also taking Prostatonin (a supplement), clorophyll, magnesium, Quercetin, vitamin e, and selenium.

I had a negative urinalysis when I first went in to see my doctor, but I have the classiv symptoms of "non-bacterial chronic prostatitis." Urgency, frequency, and now this.

Numbness in Penis

I too have this problem. Same as you 1, 2, and 3. When I was golfing summer of 2001 when I swung hard and turned I got this shooting pain/numbness right up the left side of my penis and to the tip. That is when I decided this was serious stuff and went back to my PCP for some answers. I was just shoveling snow the other day heavy wet snow when I lifted the shovel to throw it I got the same feeling. I feels like something is trying to come out the end with a slight burning but goes away as quickley as it comes on. I used to get it just from bending over but not so much any more. I haven't quite figured it out yet and it is bothersome. I am convinced that it is a nerve problem of some sort though.

I find that it is worse the more I sit. However, I have managed to get the symptoms under control for the most part. For about a week it was really bothering me. Here is what I did
1. In the morning, exercise by stretching for 15 minutes, then running & swimming. Trying to "loosen up" the muscles down low.
2. Taking supplements (Quercetin, Algonot)
3. Sometimes taking Motrin
4. Avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and spicy food, as well as fruit juice.
Still, I sometimes feel this sensation, especially when getting out of the car. My theory is that an irritated prostate is causing nerves to swell, and sending a "shockwave" down the penis.

Yes, referred pain and sensation is a good possibility. Sensations in the penis often come from further up.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.
