Flareup after sex!

Post by Paso »

Guys,

I am anxious to report a setback. Since I got this in april I have not had any major problems with sex. I have certainly had less of it than before and had some aggrevation of symptoms afterwards, but nothing major. Yesterday after sex I started with frequency (but no pain this time) again. I have felt good for quite a while now and been positive. But now I do not know what to think. When this started again I had to pee like every 10 minutes or so. It lasted that acute for about 45 mins and then I did some relaxation which seemed to help some. Slept the whole night without having to go up to pee, but this morning I have more frequency than I have had the last 4 months. To me this has to do with muscles and nerves rather than bladder or prostate. I have a hard time understanding how my bladder or prostate could react so quickly after ejeculation. Anyway, feels bad to have to be afraid of sex also. My wife is getting anxious about this, and believe me so am I. Anyway just wanted to tell you all and also if someone could find something to answer my questions or give me any ideas on how to prevent this in the future. The strange thing is that I have probably had sex 50 times after this started with just minor problems and now when I feel really (or felt) good this comes like a bomb. Sorry for whining guys

Paso - sorry to read this for you :(

My symptoms are pretty bad after sex but the last couple times have been helped by my wife doing some tigger point (external) work right after sex (within 10 mins after I've gone to the bathroom).

It is round the rectum.

I would point out that she was shown by my physio - however, given that it's external she can't really do much damage.

Have you had any physio/triggerpoint release before?

Paso what were you doing before sex ? Long hours of sitting , or in a car for hours . Any hard excersizing . My flare ups came years apart but always after sex . Now that I,m back to using condoms , no flare ups . But on the same hand I can trace long hours of sitting and hard excercise to the times I had the flare ups . I had sitting perineal pain that became worse when I had unprotected sex . Back to the condoms . it sucks but is better than the pain .

I had a full day of meetings before and a dinner afterwards with redwine. That migh be the reason. It seemded to have cleared up though in less than a day. I feel much better already. The thing was that we never had sexual intercourse this time since my fiance had her period. We just had some fun :)

Anyway I will try condom next time I dare to try

How often do you guys have sex?

Since having chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome we're down to once a week (at weekends when I can cope with increased pain/frequency better).

Thats what I,m finding out alos Paso . I do about 3 or 4 other things that are not good for the prostate and have small relapses . Its not good to stray from what works . Since the prostate problems intercourse has slowed down but not the rest . Intercourse is the only thing that seems to irritate everything . But not as much as it used too .

How does using a condom prevent flareups? Is it due to keeping her fluids from causing infection?

Hello,
Oh god, this is a really nasty condition to have...sorry for dropping in like this. From all the reading I've done here looks as though my sex life is history... Yay, Nay ? Neutral ?

My sex life hasn't disappeared though for the first 3-4 months I did avoid sex or masterbation since the aftereffects were so bad. However, it is getting better and whilst I still get a reaction after sex/ejaculating it's not bad enough to put me off trying it any more!

Infact, my renewed interest in sex (since the onset of this disease) is one of the biggests signs to me that I'm improving.

Mark,

I think what Scotsman and I am trying to say is that most people with this can have sex. Many have issues after sex (including myself sometimes), but most find ways to have sex. A good tip I got from a friend here is to completely relax right on the ejeculation instead of tense up like we all do normally. That helps me a great deal. I know what you are going through, but try and relax like I described. Also I suggest you get right on to the relaxation postsn and webslaves "protocol". Start with checking this out.

Also try and calm down, anxeity makes it much worse for me at least and I am sure many will say the same thing.

I hope you get better soon

Take care
