according to all the web sites I visited, prostatitis is not contagous,so if you have bacterial prostatitis how did you get it,and if there is bacteria present what would keep one from passing it through semen?
on the how did you get it issue,i understand that bacteria gets into the prosate and infects it,but why does the bacteria only effect the prosate?
passing infection on

This disease/condition/syndrome is not a STD. Best to forget the idea of "passing it on" etc. :|
And if you have true bacterial prostatitis with a verified bug and periodic UTIs, then this site isn't aimed at you.

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I agree with you re. 'passing it on/STd's etc. However, my prostatitis was initially caused by a bacterial infection. Cipro had no effect, but a course of Doxy reduced my symptoms to about 50%, and cleared the infection. Although I no longer have an active infection, I still have symptoms which my Uro feels are likely to be caused by muscle spasm and inflamation (I'm currently trying a course of Quercetin). Therefore, although the initiating event in MY CASE was an infection (which appears to be chronic), I still feel that this site IS relevant - for example, I'm currently sitting down on two towels folded lengthwise after 9 months of standing up at my desk for 7+ hours per day!

Age:39. Age at onset:31. Symptoms prior to treatment: Golf ball in rectum, severe urinary frequency (2-3x/hr; 5-10x/night); weak stream; painful ejaculation; coccygeal pain; tip of penis pain; general pelvic pain on left; testicular pain; supra-pubic pain. Current | Symptoms: Urinary frequency 1x every 2-3 hrs and 1-2 x a night; mild pelvic pain on left hand side (all symptoms still improving!)
Helped by: Trigger point release; avoiding exercise; pelvic floor relaxation; Neurontin decreased bladder sensitivity somewhat. Worsened by: Exercise; frequent ejaculation; ibuprofen irritates bladder. Made no difference: Diet; biofeedback; quercetin; Steroid anti-inflammatories; Elavil.
****UPDATE*** I am now able to sit again at work all day, and can perform moderate aerobic exersise again for the first time in 8 years!!!
