First time here. Symptoms and history. Need advice.

Post by buckilin »

Diagnosed with prostate cancer Fall of 2001. Had maximum of 3D conformal proton beam radiation treatments and HDR brachytherapy seed implants. Remission confirmed Sept., 2002. Had lingering discomfort in perineum area and urethera. Developed erectile dysfunction and after trying all conventional treatments I opted for a penile implant in August. Very slow and painful recovery. perineum and eurethera discomfort have become outright and near constant pain and I'm taking Loricet for it. Urologist suspects prostatitis and confirmed the tenderness/pain in perineum-specifically urethera. To me, he is way too little concerned.
I'm not pleased to be taking all this pain medication. It is practically ruining my life. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

This is a most atypical case history. What is your age? It is highly unusual for chronic pelvic pain to have onset in men of mature years. I suspect that it is related to a possible injury or trauma to nerves associated with your recent treatment.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I'm 64. I agree about the trauma/nerves. I also suspect a chronic infection. What I'm hoping for is advice on treatments.

Since your case is so unusual, it's difficult to know what to suggest. But in general, I'd say: trigger point massage (in case the surgery and pain a has set up a pelvic myoneuropathy, which is quite likely), neurontin, any accredited quercetin product and/or ProstaProtek (to subdue mast cells), Elavil, a-blockers, etc ... many alternatives.
