Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
Do you have pain or tenderness in the actual penis/ shaft? I don't. And I completely understand, I have that exact same fear. The problem is that there is a huge lack of scientific research into this phenomena, regardless of what causes it. I would guess though after 3 years, if damage could be done, it would have been.
I agree with webslave, the issue lies in irritation of something that connects to those nerve pathways. And I hope, like you do, that it doesn't cause damage. As far as my research suggest, it doesn't.. but I still have fear.

Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
Wanted to post an update...
I was tired of not knowing about the whole erections during the night issue, so I took action. I set up my phone and recording myself sleeping naked, it was actually really interesting. Soon after I would fall asleep, I began having erections, they would last for around 10-15 minutes then fade for like 30-40 minutes and the process would repeat. This cycle goes throughout the entire night. I'm not sure what to do with this information but there it is.
My pain continues to originate from the left side of my perineum and I get nerve pain sometimes that shoots down the left side of my penis. My penis is sore on an off/ on basis daily. Still having trouble starting urination. Ejaculation strength seems to be better, which is a nice change. Peeing still burns sometimes when I first start.
I had sex with two women last weekend that I met at bars. It all went well minus some penile soreness the next day. Of course I wore protection.
I continue to stretch, but I've been slacking on internal massage bc it doesn't seem to help me so much. At this point I'm convinced I have an irritated nerve, what's causing the irritation? I don't know. But most likely a tense muscle.
Thats all I got for now, keep on keepin on.

@cam3roni - I have a few questions for you. Do you get them every night? Or do you get them in cycles like I do? Are your days better or worse after a night of the erections? This is what I have noticed. When I'm having the erections at night, it's kind of an indicator to what kind of day I may have in regards to flares, urethral and penis tip pain.
Age: 52 | Onset Age:49 (but I may have had warning signs 25 yrs earlier)| Symptoms: Pretty much all the usual suspects. Frequency, urgency, inability to always empty, burning and numbing uretheral, penile & perineum pain. Frequent urination at night.| Helped By: Internal PT. Myrbetriq helps but is by no means great. TENS to help sleep, and hand held massages of the lower back, hips and buttocks. Standing and physical labor help. Stretches and hot baths. Occasionally use gel iced pad on the perineum. Worsened By: Sitting (being sedentary), driving, sex, bowel movements, tight clothing and underwear. | Other comments: Currently trying L-Theanine

Hey Chgo,
As of right now, I get them every night, though I think the intensity varies night to night. And I do notice an increase in pain but I don't know if that's cause of erections or if the erections happen as a result of increased pain/irritation.

Your symptoms are similar to mine
I haven’t found any relief other than an intense stretching program
Still have a constant golf ball feeling, difficulty starting urination, and “congested” feeling ejaculations

I really don't get the golf ball feeling anymore. I only really had it at the onset. When you say congested ejaculation, does it feel like when you do, that it feels somewhat stopped up coming out? I feel that way too if that's what you speak of, but I never felt that way before ever taking Tamsulosin. I always thought that was the feeling I might get with retrograde ejaculation, but I guess not. 50% of the time I ejaculate, it feels like there is a cork in my penis.

My ejaculation contractions just feel abnormally strong and uncomfortable, and unless I’m aroused for long periods of time it doesn’t shoot out as easily
As my CPPS progressed I started getting hard flaccid as well

Why do the cavernous and hypogastric nerves get so little attention compared to the pudendal nerve?

All the pelvic nerves are involved in CPPS. You don't hear me emphasizing the pudendal

Yep, I guess I meant more so from the medical community. But youre right.
I'm still trying to figure out how to stop having these constant nocturnal erections.
Getting a little frustrated with my lack of consistent progress

Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
Hey guys, so here I am 7 months down the road and I feel like I should be a lot better by now but I'm not
My current symptoms:
I really don't have any anxiety over the issues anymore, I still hangout and joke around with my roommates and friends everyday. I feel more frustration than anxiety if anything...
What else can I do? Go through process of getting prescribed alpha blockers? Muscle relaxants? More testing? I feel as though I'm doing all the right “natural” paths to healing, but I'm not satisfied with my progress.
Any advice?

Are you doing squats? Don't. It's actually best to stop weights for a while and see it that helps. Mix in some amitriptyline via doc if you can swing it. Learn meditation. Saunas.

I don't do squats anymore, its been about 7 months. I do still workout my upper body, but I don't notice a correlation. I have any appointment with doctor next week, I would have already gone on Elavil but I've been taking sertraline for OCD for years so I would have to ween off the sertraline first. I'll see if I can convince the doc to prescribe it.
