I have been having a lot of CPPS/prostatitis problems for the past 3 months. 7 weeks on Bactrim made things better for a while. I was also taking any accredited quercetin product during the last 4 weeks and also added Prelief the last two weeks, things were not great but at least I could pee and even had some symptom free days on the weekends/days off.
My Uro convinced me to try Tequin for 30 days which meant I had to stop the Quercetin. Since last night after 5 days on Tequin, I started havings lock-ups when I urinate. I can get some urine out but not without a few spasms and lock-ups.
I ordered and received one of the cushions on IC network and it makes setting all day a little better but my lock ups continued all day. My flow is also down to almost nothing after being pretty good when on the bactrim and Quercetin.
Will Alpha Blockers help me with this problem? As you all know It is very depressing to try to pee and have all these spasms/lockups, I need some relief. Will these spasms subside without any alpha blocker or muscle relaxer?

I have been fighting this for almost a year now. I first got it from an inflamed prostate. I then believe from the worrying and sitting at school all tensed up I then got this great nice cramp in my pelvis. I also was continuing to lift weights and remember when I felt a cramp set in on the right side in the pelvic floor.
Anyways, my chief complaint now, other than irritation in my urethra is/was lockups when I would first try to pee. It sounds like yours might be a little worse. At first mine was a strong lock up almost as strong as the second or third contration of an orgasm. After the initial lockup Id pee freely and with a good stream. These lockups have went down with physical therapy. I had internal massage of the levators and with a muscle relaxant.
Unfortunately they have not fully gone away and I had to stop my bodybuilding hobby making me very sad. They have gotten better though with therapies ALL directed towards helping the muscles.
If I were you Id find a pelvic floor therapist and at least try the muscle relaxants in conjunction with the therapy. I'm taking Flomax at night and 1-2 ativans during the day. I'm hoping it continues to lessen the symptoms.
One thing I find strange is after masturbation I pee freely for about an hour. Telling me this actually makes my urinary sphincters relax. I think its the extreme tightening then release that tricks them into relaxation for awhile, much like kegels do, or can do, I think its the same idea. Does orgasm relax these muscles for you for a time being. What about alcohol. I noticed on alcohol they relax as well. 1 Ativan and a couple glasses of wine and I'm fine. Course the acid in the alcohol makes me burn a bit the next day due to still battling mast cells caused by all the muscle spasms and tightness. This condition blows! Laterz,
SS

It has gotten a tad bit better. The odd thing is, when I stand to pee it very rarely happens. When I sit it does it about 3-4 times and then lets me drip a bit. I hate it cause one of the few pleasureable times through this crap was when I could set on the stool and pee all I could out, now it is a struggle too.
My Uro put me on Cardura today and tonight I am taking my first dose. hopefully it will help the spasms and increase my flow which is dripping. When I drink alcohol, I pee much better, of course there is so much urine in my bladder it has no choice. I haven't drank any since this started but am planning on my usual Saturday beers.
This problem started after I began the damn Tequin and after masturbating, so I don't think that helps me. Last night after a hot bath, it was gone till this morning. I am off the Tequin now, didn't do a damn thing for me, but I only took it for 10 days.
I think part of my problem is that I pee so frequently that I really don't have much to pee. But I hate that feeling of having to go, so I go about every 30 minutes even if I am not having a strong urge.
I don't really burn after drinking, in fact my best days other than the hangover are the day after I drink beers.

I agree mine is definitely a muscle thing. When I masturbate for a longer time and have a really intense orgasm I pee great for a few hours. It must be that the tightening and subsequent relaxation trick the sphincter into relaxing more than usual. I also notice that I can't pee very well when I sit but pee much easier when I stand. I have never understood that, maybe its just gravity.

I found that in the beginning of this condition masturbation made the pain and discomfort much worse. As I have improved over the last three years it seems that masturbation seems to help now. It is a very individual situation. You have to experiment. I think your body will tell you if it is helping or not. Hot baths have helped from the beginning and still do.

Latte,
So you have been at this for three years. Man I hope it doesnt take that long for me. I've been getting better since February, not much pain, more irritation and the fact I've been told I can't lift and shouldnt run right now. I can walk and swim.
If you dont mind me asking what things have you done to get where you are now? Thanks,
SS

I have posted my story several times. Just do a search under author for Latte and you can read my past communications. I was very desperate at one time but am much better now. It took some time but you don't sound like your condition was a bad as mine. I had a lot of pain and fatigue.
