I am a university student and in 3 days I have a comprehensiv exam which will decide LOT of things for me... NO surprise I had a vey serious Flareup, like never before maybe.. ( stress of course ! )
Now the thing is that this discomfort doesnt allow me to think , And make me depressed, and Since the exam is 5 hours ( :( ) I dun t know what should I do ; PLease :

1- ( IMPORTANT ) I can't see a Doctor for a presciption soon, so any drug can help releif the pain and discomfort WITHOUT AFFECTING MY CONCENTRATION ?

2- and for later ( when I will have time to get a prescription) what do you recommend, Ultram ? ( I am looking for something that I won t take everyday)

That for monday I am looking for something without prescription cause I can t see a doctor.

It really sucks guys, to have these symptoms during such an important event of my life. Actually for some reason, when I don t have the symptoms I am quite always, as If I knew that this won t last forever. As as soon as my symptoms start, Suddenly I feel really bad and low.

THANKS A LOT

Difficult to do anything at such short notice.

Long, hot baths, and basic stretching exercises like:

Buttock Stretch: Sit on the floor with your leg straight. Cross your injured leg over the opposite thigh placing your foot next to your knee. Grab your knee with your opposite arm and gently pull your knee across your body, stretching your buttock muscles. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times.

Thigh Cross: Lie on your back with your legs straight. Lift a leg straight up and then lower it across the hip keeping shoulders flat on the ground. Hold for 30 seconds once you start to feel stretch in your buttock muscles. Repeat two times.

[another version: Lying on your back with both knees bent, rest the ankle of your leg over the knee of your other leg. Grasp the thigh of your leg and pull that knee toward your chest. You will feel a stretch along the buttocks and possibly along the outside of your hip on the side. Hold this for 15 to 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times.]

Ultram if you can get it. Quercetin and an analgesic like aspirin if not.

Lie down to read/study rather than sit. Lie on your side with only one pillow and a good light.

Lots of sleep. No coffee or sodas. Lots of water. Plain, wholesome, home-cooked food.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

It would be difficult for anyone to answer this question for you, without more information. Read throught the forum and search for posts that match your specific symptoms.

What kind of pain and discomfort are you experiencing? Ibuprofen or Aleve (naproxen) are OTC nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories that help mild pain. If you have burning with urination, eliminate caffeine and acid, and try Prelief.

As we are not doctors (and even if we were), you should be very cautious taking advise from anyone on the Internet.

Utram works very well for me, but you will need to discuss all your symptoms with your doctor. Again, search through the forum so you will be informed when you talk with doctor.

Try to look at this from a different point of view. Is it possible that the symptoms are exacerbated when you have important events in your life (i.e. stress)? Perhaps you could talk to your doctor about an anti-anxiety medication for stressful events. Also, search for "relaxation" on this forum. Hang in there, we're all with you.

Thank a lot gus.. Yesterday I took an extremely hot bath, sat for 30 min, and today I didn t have any symptoms until now, it came back again. I am gonna go for another one now.
Yet I am afraid That very hot water have important side effects, once I was browsing through internet and found thta VERY hot bath may affect fertility... anyway I did this search cause I noticed very watery semen the days after I take a hot bath. ( I am not sure how related they are)

Thanks a lot again

Hot baths have no permanent effect on fertility, so unless you are trying to make a baby right now, don't be concerned.

Important !

Post by winding_road »

Thanks guys for your replies. I was worried of having the pain during the exam. Just like the last Time, I had pain ALL THE TIME BEFORE THE EXAM,
once it started the pain went, and even I was thinking about the pain it did not came back till now, after 8 hours of the exam. It is not the first time.
And It is not me only, Another guy sometime posted about how the pain completley disappeared when he had a fire. I also had a car accident and the pain disappeared. SO ? what does this mean ! I think it is important!

anyway in the end I had bad exams cause I really couldn t study much before from the pain. I was sitting all day in the hot water.

I believe it's down to the mind deciding there are more important things to process/consider for that time period and it puts the pain signals to the background.
Not medical advice: Read my progress to date : Read about my W-A clinic visit

Must be. Similarly I find that my symptoms are much less when I'm sick with a flu or something.

Adrenaline probably helps mask a lot as well in certain circumstances.

Hey winding road, I m the guy who posted on symptom's disapearing when my house caught on fire. I think the answer being that the brain prioritising is probably the right answer. As soon as I got to calm down a bit, my symptom's came back. I think it was important as well, and was the reason I addressed it. What's strange is, you would think that maybe even if the brain was saying hey! there is a more important matter at hand hear, that maybe you would just not think about it as much. But these were true, temporary relief of symptom's Urine flowed , erection's were full, tightness was gone ect.. Not just a disapearence of pain. Now you would think since it takes patient's a very long time to get the benifit's of focused relaxation, and trigger point therapy, that how could a case like this happen overnight? If even only temporary.... My relief lasted only a few short days, but it was the first time that I had a total relief of symptom's. It will alway's baffle me

You pose an interesting problem. It's why I posit there may be a direct involvement of the CNS in chronic pelvic pain:
viewtopic.php?t=135

In reference to this, in the past I have aborted flares with opioid drugs:
viewtopic.php?t=290

The extent of involvement of the brain itself in our pain has yet to be fully explained.

Interesting reading mark. I have never read your post on Vicodin before. I myself have posted on my own experience with opiods. I find it to be the best deppresion treatment there is. I had found, like you that it made me feel like I was young again. And I also swear the stuff makes me more inteligent. And yes, it seem's that I have gotten better over the year's because of it. I also have found Xanax very useful. I know that people will warn of addiction with both of these drugs. I have taken 7.5 mg of vicodin per day for 2 years. And 1 mg of Xanax for 3 years. I have never up the dosage on either one and will occasionaly take a break to see if I'm addicted. I'm a little irrritable but ok. but like you said, I'm not prone to addiction either. There is a direct connection with our brain's and Pelvic pain, wich is why I think that people will always have to recieve trigger point therapy, and do focused relaxation. I believe we will just create more trigger points, and as you said mast cell inflamation do to stress. And I hope for your nobel prize to be soon. :-D

Ha, thanks. But when you say we will create more trigger points, DW contends that this is not the case, that people can be cured, and that with vigilance the creation of more trigger points can be avoided.

I would like to hear from these people.. Aside from TK , no one on this forum has boasted a cure. Maybe, DW could advise these people to post here? We need to hear from these guy's, and there expeience. If there is guy's who really stop posting because they are cured, then shame on them for not sharing there good news! :-D
