Quercetin Toxicity?

I have been trying to read more on Quercetin, and found the following on acu-cell.com's web site:

"Quercetin (Quercetin, quercetrin) is chemically related to a class of flavonoids called (pro)anthocyanins. Early research on quercetin suggested that ingesting higher amounts may induce cancer, after it failed
a standard - but somewhat controversial laboratory test called the Ames Test. This test supposedly dentifies chemicals that might be carcinogenic. Subsequent studies however disputed those earlier
findings and attributed cancer-protective or cancer-fighting properties to quercetin instead. In a strange twist of circumstances, I have seen a few patients who developed cancerous tumors after experimenting with quercetin, and patient feedback on its touted anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory effects has not been that favorable either, so despite the hype and "positive" studies, quercetin certainly fits the "Caveat Emptor" category."

Since it seems to be helping, I just ordered 3 more bottles of Quercetin, and am taking my chances. But I would be interested in any further info on this. I didn't realize before that this is closely related to proanthocyanins, which would be like grape seed extract--use of that at 200-300 mg/day, however, did not markedly effect my symptoms at all however.

As Dr Shoskes has repeatedly pointed out on the Usenet newsgroup, quercetin is the subject of numerous studies suggesting it has anti-cancer properties.

I think you need to carefully question the motives of the acu-cell website in making this suggestion.

Has anyone out there been taking Quercetin for 2 years or more? I am considering experimenting with this "drug," but would like some input.
