Particles in urine

I was in the bath the other night and for the first time so relaxed that I actually just urinated right there in the bath. Kinda gross I know, but anyway, I noticed there were what seemed like dead skin particles coming out in the urine (eww!). I'm sure I would not have noticed them if I was urinating normally so it may well not be a one off. I'd had intercourse with my girlfriend fairly recently so I assume it was dried or clogged semen coming loose. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Id think it was semen from the intercourse that was trapped in the bladder. Are you on an alpha blocker, is so that explains. If not you may have some sort of obstruction or just a swollen prostate. Would make me think that you should consider urine reflux issues as well.

I'm not on alpha blocker, but it does sound like it could be retrograde ejaculation I agree. Thanks for the reply :)

I've noticed this too. When I urinate, there is like a cloud of little particles in the toilet water. I thought maybe they were dead cells resulting from inflammation. Thought I heard that somewhere, but I could be wrong.

Small lumps in urine is one issue. In semen, they are known as corpora amylacea / amylaceous bodies or corpuscles / amyloid bodies or corpuscles / colloid corpuscles / corpora versicolorata : small basophilic, PAS+, hyaline masses, 5--50 mm in diameter, derived from degenerate cells or inspissated secretions and consisting of a central nidus surrounded by concentric lamellae. They occur in

* prostate (and semen)
* neuroglia
* pulmonary alveoli

... and become more numerous with advancing age - in particular past 50. They may undergo calcification; their significance is not known.

I've never seen any lumps in semen however. "Small lumps in urine is one issue". Could you expand on this statement webslave? Are these clumps in urine the same as what you describe for semen, or similar?

Thanks for the link, most informative.

I'm pretty sure it's semen in the urine, I just tested it having had no intercourse for at least 24 hours and there were no particles at all. I think it correlates to ones symptoms. If I'm having an a bad week or am stressed and my symptoms are flaring I get weak ejacualtions (that may cause the retrograde or retrograde-like symptoms) and if I'm relaxed and have no symptoms ejaculations are strong.

they may be particles, but don't overlook the possibility that these are tiny bubbles. Good Luck with your health.
