Quercetin
Does anyone have suggestions on how to rationally approach Quercetin therapy? The studies say 500 mg bid. Is there ever a reason to go higher? How long does one wait? It would seem that with all the data collected by Supplier and Quercetin, that there would be some indication on how to do this. But I can't find anything beyond the usual dosing, or the person here and there that says they tried a higher dose.

Re: Quercetin
I have put together a brief FAQ on my site:pvdiamon wrote:Does anyone have suggestions on how to rationally approach Quercetin therapy? The studies say 500 mg bid. Dr Shoskes, from your FAQ section:
What about the Quercetin protocol on this website, since it recommends taking quercetin with other supplements, including other antioxidants such as fish oil & flax seed oil?Can I combine any accredited quercetin product with other herbal treatments?
I don't recommend it. There is no way of knowing how ingredients in other herbal supplements or treatments will interact with Quercetin. Even if the other therapy is considered "safe", it may interfere with the absorption of Quercetin, or block its actions in other ways. Furthermore, very high doses of antioxidants can lead to pro-oxidant effects. By combining high doses of multiple supplements, you may actually be producing the opposite and potentially harmful effect.

Flax and Fish oils are not herbal treatments, nor do we recommend high doses of anything.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Quercetin
I appreciate the post by Dr. Shoskes which was very helpful. I have used Cernilton with moderate success until recently. Does anyone have data on using it? I understand the advisability of perhaps not combining it with Quercetin but I've been hesitant to stop it for fear of it making things worse.

The fact is that nobody really knows what synergistic effect quercetin will have with other herbals.

Dr. Shoskes stated there is no information on the safety of combining phytotherapies. I have not heard specifically it is dangerous at all. What I am trying to find out is either experiences, or more theory to make a decision with. One risk of combining herbals is they often "thin" the blood by decreasing clotting. I don't know if Cernilton has that effect. I also don't know if it is even much of an antioxidant, with the risk of adding to the antioxidant load and making everything pro-oxidant. It's hard to find much info on Cernilton although it has reasonable evidence for efficacy.

Quercetin protocol
If Quercetin becomes effective at three times per day dosing, how long is it recommended one stay at tid dosing before moving back to twice per day? I didn't see that in Dr. Shoskes FAQ on Quercetin.

Quercetin--missed doses
I think Quercetin has improved my symptoms, but not cured them. I have been on it about 2 months at the tid dose (Quercetin). I am curious to hear from others about their experience. How soon do you find recurrences after missing doses? Is there an immediate effect, or does it take days to weeks? Thanks.
