Treated by Urologist and still much pain after 2 years.

Post by suave »

Hi all,

2 years ago I had about of Chlamydia which was quickly cleared via zithromax. About a month later I was diagnosed with epididymitis orchitis. At Toronto western hospital. Told to take Tylenol and ice packs.

I got real bad one day and my doctor thought I should see an urologist Dr. Punan at 968 Lawrence Street in Toronto. Same office as I believe chardonoff.

Anyway I had a cystoscopy. And was told low grade prostatitis. Put of Cipro for 2 or 3 weeks.

Pain continued in the testes, scrotum and perineum really bad. After I went back he put me on anti inflams. Bactrim I believe. So after another month I was severely in pain in my rectum area and testes.

He sent me to Dr Yip an infectious disease specialist who did lots of tests. His idea was it may be autoimmune. Went to see her. Nothing so she sent me to dr handlesman a rheumy. Who basically instantly after 5 min referred me to a psych dr, thinking somatization.

Went to go see him took his meds. No relief. He then said no need to see me go and see an acupuncturist. Who also does cranial work and myofascial work.

Apparently he said I have spasm of pelvic floor muscles due to head trauma. Therapy a few times but the funds are dwindling. Very expensive. As well I go for colon hydrotherapy. Nothing works I mean nothing.

Told by another dr to take magnesium. Nothing. Nux vomita, a homeopathic remedy - nothing.

The all say prostate is fine but for god sake there seems to be a knife in my rectum feeling or the gold ball feeling.

After ejaculation I can't walk sometimes. Brings me to tears every night.

The only thing that helps is drinking large amounts of alcohol.

It is rectal severe pain and perineal pain all day and night. With a few 1 hour breaks of pain relief.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Another urologist. Anyone hear of Punan?

My family dr. won't do no more says it is psychosomatic. But psych says diff. All my money is gone on diff treatments. At the point of losing my job, my relationship.. sex life.

Constant pain on the right side of pelvic area going down the leg as well. Rectal pain can't sit for long time. I sometime message my own prostate and some clear fluid just gushes out with a little relief.

When I do ejaculate it is think and rather strong smelling. The girlfriend things a blockage. But I have no clue. No one doctor will do a PSA test, digital exam. Anything. I am at the point where I feel like ending it all.

However some said broccoli therapy. So I have tried for 3 days and nothing still chronic pain and now nausea from broccoli.

What can this be? Anyone please email me or send me some advice. I am in severe need of assistance. Can't think of what to do.

I take primal defence, perfect food, saw palmetto, co q10 , vit abcde, selenium mag calc, so many pills probiotics mgm.

Eat well no carbs no fat no booze. I do smoke.

Drink gallons of water message my perineum take hot hot baths. Heat in rectal area and message my own prostate.

Can the chlamydia be stuck there and other microbes. Tests show neg.

Apparently no infection. But pain pain pain. I almost feel like jumping in front of something with this nagging pain.

Mostly on right side. penis burns sometimes the tube feels swollen I was told I had spermatocele, hydrocel. But nothing wrong with it. My pain is all in my head.

I can only tell you in my heart I feel it is partially muscular. And also some form of blockage of prostate.

Any suggestions who I can see. I need a referral badly for a top notch dr. Who can help?

All my money is gone on phoney cures. Left broke and in pain and despair. Helppppppppppppp.

Thank you for reading

Sorry to hear about the bad situation. Your story shows you have not really investigated what's available to help you, and what you can do to help yourself. I suggest you read this forum a lot more.

My heart goes out to you :( It's made me mad this morning reading about how crap all your doctors have been - truely shocking

The biggest turning point for me was finding this forum and buying ' A Headache in the Pelvic' - details here: https://ucpps.men/the-wise-anderson-protocol.
I'd also recommend having a good look round this forum and also Marks site (https://ucpps.men/.

I can honestly tell you that your symptoms are all common for poeple on this board and there is an approach that works. You're not alone and you will get better from this.

Richard.

I had a bout of chronic epididymitis 4 years ago. It lasted about 10 months than subsided enough that I could continue with my life as if I never had it. I took quercetin for the last 6 months of having pain symptoms & that's what may've done the trick.

Have you tried quercetin or Quercetin? If not, learn more about it & give it a shot.

Hang in there Steve, we know how you feel. I also have bad pain after ejaculation, for the next day I don't even want to move, so I've been abstaining from all sexual activity including masturbation. It's not difficult considering it keeps the pain down. Stay positive, I think you'll find some answers here.

Once again, I suggest you read this forum more thoroughly. Going back to your urologist for yet more antibiotics is not the way forward.

Steve,

We are all here to help you. Draw on everyone's experiences and come up with a game plan.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Another urologist. Anyone hear of Punan?
If you are still in Toronto, read this post: viewtopic.php?t=801
Anyway I had a cystoscopy. And was told low grade prostatitis. Put of Cipro for 2 or 3 weeks.
Did the Urologist say Bacterial or nonbacterial Prostatitis -- big difference. See https://ucpps.men/nih-definition-of-prostatitis-and-CPPS. If you have NONbacterial prostatitis, the Antibiotics may do more harm than good. See topic: viewtopic.php?t=1097
He sent me to Dr Yip an infectious disease specialist who did lots of tests. His idea was it may be autoimmune. Went to see her. Nothing so she sent me to dr handlesman a rheumy. Who basically instantly after 5 min referred me to a psych dr, thinking somatization
It is obvious from other members of this Forum, and many recent journal articles that your problem is not psychosomatic. A psychologist may help you deal with this problem, and the psychological stress caused by the pain may exacerbate the pain, but read through some more posts as Webslave suggested. Especially see the "Success Stories."
Apparently he said I have spasm of pelvic floor muscles due to head trauma.
This should be very useful information for you! This can be treated by stretches and therapy. Read the book "headache in pelvis," as Scotsman suggests! It is really worth it if you have spasms!
My family dr. won't do no more says it is psychosomatic
.

IMO, this is unacceptable. Get a new doctor. Just because he/she doesn't know what to do, doesn't mean that nothing can be done. There is plenty of research in CP/CPPS to support the fact that there are many approaches at treatments.
Constant pain on the right side of pelvic area going down the leg as well. Rectal pain can't sit for long time.
Were you injured at all, or did you work out a lot? One-sided pain may suggest neurological involvement. You are discribing a pain distribution which further supports that your pain is NOT psychogenic. See topics on Pudendal Nerve Entrapment https://ucpps.men/pudendal-nerve-entrapment-pne, and do a search for PNE in this Forum.
No one doctor will do a PSA test, digital exam. Anything. I am at the point where I feel like ending it all.
Find a doctor who specializes in pelvic floor dysfunctions and/or chronic pain. Many of us have been where you are now. It sucks -- I can't deny that. But try to draw stregnth on knowledge and information -- and all of us. If you are really upset, call me.. Email me [email protected]. I, like many of our fellow members, have been in EXCRUCIATING pain. It helps to talk about it with someone who can relate.
Drink gallons of water message my perineum take hot hot baths. Heat in rectal area and message my own prostate
Hot baths can really relax the muscles. Perhaps you can try some other relaxation techniques. See viewtopic.php?t=1104&highlight= and do a search by author for "JD"

Also, while you do need to drink plenty of water, you shouldn't overdo it. No sense in forcing your body to urinate more than it has to...
Apparently no infection. But pain pain pain. I almost feel like jumping in front of something with this nagging pain.

There is no shame in taking a prescribed pain-killer, even if it is short-term, it may break the cycle. Again, a chronic pain specialist may be your best bet as he can prescribe according to your specific symptoms.
Going to see doctors all this week again ..... urologist again..... I guess I will have to go on all those antibiotics again...... thats all he seems to think about...
Read, read, and read. Arm yourself with questions for the doctor. Have him refer you to someone who can help!

See post: viewtopic.php?t=1364 concerning the mental strain we all experience.

It does get better. Keep us posted!

Steve, I may be relatively new to this forum, but I'm not new to chronic pelvic pain. 4 years ago I had a flare-up of epididymitis & took Cipro on advice of my uro for nearly 2 months despite having no evidence of infection either in my urine or semen. Cipro did nothing to relieve the pain & in fact, I felt less pain when I finally just stopped taking it! I tried other antibiotics for another month or so to little effect.

You clearly have chronic pelvic pain, but unless you have positive urine & semen analyses to prove it, you most likely do not have an infection. Some uros prescribe antibiotics simply because they don't know what else to give you or care about finding another solution - in which case you should take your business elsewhere.

There are other treatments available for CP-type symptoms that you can try & others with more expertise can point you in the right direction. But please be wary of taking antibiotics just because your doc can't think of anything else to give you. They'll do you more harm than good.

Good luck.

Webslave,

Thank for the head banging pic... made me laugh... I guess it does sound a litle frustrating to hear others pain problems.

I do agree I should read more here and I will.... work limits the amount of time I have.
At any rate I went back to the urologist.... and he wants to do another cystoscopy...telling we that he saw infection the last time he did one a year ago.... so I guess that means it is a bracterial infection...anyhow claims he wants to possibly do more antibiotics..... however last time I was floxed with Cipro..... allergic reaction that took 6 months to get better.
SO my gp said septra for 6 to 8 weeks.... However I dont realy want more anti biotics.....

DO you think broccolli theraphy continued will benifit me?

I am also considering Kegel exercises.... however I get severe pain from doing them in the perineum area.... however doing them I have notice urine stuck in the shaft area of the penis and notice it leaks out after. Wonder if that is also a problem...

Moderator.. I thank you for your kind words of wisdom...I did join that toronto group but they have not yet accepted my membership....

Thanks for your posts...

In one sentence you say you are virtually suicidal, and in the next you say you can't find the time to read a forum that may help you.

Please spend the weekend, or as much of it as you can, reading this forum. Start with Success Stories.
