Hi. I have been told by my Uro that I have Prostatitis. I have been on Doxyclcyline for about 5 weeks. I had a sexual encounter one week before I got the symptoms that made me go to the doctor. I am almost sure that my current problem was caused by this sexual encounter. I am experiencing a pressure/burning feeling at the end of my penis most of the time, which is slightly worse after going to the bathroom. I also noticed patches of redness around the opening of my penis. After doing some research online, I was convinced that I had Clymadia, but my Uro has always disagreed. My Uro feels that the redness has been caused by an irratation and has nothing to do with my other symptoms. I disagree, but I certainly do not know for sure what is causing it.
My question is has anyone experienced this same type of redness around the opening of the penis, and if so, has it gone away with medication? Also, my problem with this seems to be more pronounced on some days and hard to see on others, which is driving me crazy.
My current status is that I am still experiencing the burning sensation, although it seems to be getting slightly better, the redness on my penis is still present, and I am still taking the Doxyclcyine for at least another few weeks.
Thank you in advance for any information
James

I agree with your uro.
As for the redness at the opening (meatus), it is very common. Do a search here on the words "meatus".

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Redness...
Redness on the tip of penis is, according my opinion, connected with prostatitis. I do experience this exactly from the time I was diagnosed with prostatitis. I have had never ever this before. No matter what Uros say, this is connected with this syndrom. Pepo
