Problems with sensitivity

Post by mistermata »

Hello there I have been suffering from chronic pelvic pain for about 4+ years now. It all started around the time I ripped my foreskin. I had terrible burning pain on top of the itchy pains from the tears and the urologist I went to told me I needed a circumcision and out of fear I went through with it as he told me the foreskin would not be able to repair itself after ripping multiple times. After the operation things seemed ok and then eventually my symptoms came back and then after awhile I began to experience a loss of sensation on top of the classic prostatitis/chronic pelvic floor pain symptoms. Fast forward to today and I have very little sense of pleasure at the head of my penis. I notice that sometimes I have sensitivity more than other times and want to know if anybody else has dealt with this? I am worried not knowing if the loss of sensitivity is related to my chronic pelvic pain or from something else? I notice when I do my self touching of the anus after stretching/breathing and feel my frenulum I will get moments where I can feel much more sensitivity and then it kinda vanishes. I also notice that when my erection gets full my sensitivity also tends to go away. Has anybody else struggled with sensitivity problems? I also have burning pain especially after ejaculation, but the numbness is the thing that bothers me most as sex can seem like a chore depending on how I am feeling. I have bounced around to so many different urologists and gave up hope before stumbling here and learning about the Wise Protocol. I have not been able to sleep so I apologize if this is worded strangely. Anyways I just want to reassure myself that this is not from damage to the head of my penis but something to do with my muscles pressing on a nerve or something... I am really having the roughest time with this right now and could use some advice or something. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I don't know anybody personally that's dealing with this so I was hoping to get feedback on here.
Age: 30 | Onset Age: 25 for some symptoms (probably earlier)| Symptoms: Burning :boom: /shooting sharp pain/pins and needles/electrical feeling pain that can be in my perineum/lower abdominal area/penis/inside my anus :moon: and interestingly going down my legs to the bottom of my feet but the sharp pain is usually not in the feet. I also have lower back pain. The most distressing is the lack of pleasure/sensitivity in my penis that seems to have progressively become worse but fluctuates. I | Helped By: Trying to not be stressed  some stretches and deep breathing and light touching of anus to help relax my muscles | Worsened By: Stress/anxiety, orgasm/sex, biking, and during flare ups it is hard to sit down | Other comments: I had a problem with my foreskin where i would keep ripping it during sex when I was 24-25 and some of my symptoms appeared around then. I received a circumcision as the doctor convinced me it was my problem. I also realize I was probably chronically tightening my muscles when I was younger/would have problems at times with obtaining an orgasm (due to perceived decreased pleasure sensation) during sex but sometimes the opposite. I am currently slowly tapering off of suboxone and considering a faster one if I can afford the financial aspect of not working for awhile; (I feel it is keeping me from some degree of recovery in my body and mind). I believe I was trying to mask the problem myself as I had no idea what was going on after going from doctor to doctor. I am happy to be here as everywhere else I looked only fed into my catastrophic thinking, especially reading about pudendal neuralgia. I was diagnosed at 9 years old as having OCD/anxiety/depression/etc. I also currently deal with tinnitus which seems worse with stress and ulnar neuropathy/migraines... to be continued

Firstly, you have an abnormal level of anxiety (awake late at night having the roughest time), which makes everything worse. At times like these, a benzodiazepine can be useful (short term only).

How did you rip your foreskin?

Some loss of libido and loss of sensitivity is normal with UCPPS, and is reversible in time.

I ripped it having a lot of sex I had phimosis when really young and had over time stretched things out but having a lot of rough sex everyday for months caused the tears to tear again and again. The doctors would tell me I have balanitis and to not have sex for 2 weeks and then I would rip it again and go back and rip it again etc. By the time I saw a urologist he told me I needed a circumcision, but looking back a lot of the pain such as burning etc. we’re coming from my UCPPS.

Thank you for your reply it means a lot to me! My main fear is that I have somehow irreversibly damaged my penis sensitivity. I think about it maybe being due to my circumcision, but I had some great sensitivity after surgery and had pleasurable sex for a bit before the burning and pelvic pain came back. Now my sensitivity is almost non existent most of the time especially when erect. At time I touch my frenulum and can barely feel anything. I Really want to get better and have been following stretches in Dr. Wise’s book. Just hearing from you that sensitivity will return over time is somewhat reassuring

If it’s really true that sensitivity will come back with time that would cure 90% of my anxiety associated with my problems. Again thank you so much for replying to me and I am grateful to have found this place.

I am hoping to travel to Dr. Wise’s clinic I am trying to learn trigger point release, but have no idea how to do it as I am not sure where or how to touch the different muscles as I am not inclined anatomically. I recently bought some quercetin supplement from Farr Laboratories that includes pollen extract, papain, and Bromelain. I just saw your post about it being regulated by the four agencies you mentioned and forgot to check before buying it as I did not see any of the ones you mentioned. It just says they meet cGMP and FDA requirements so hopefully it works ok : /. I also read about your gluten post and am going to experiment with that. I am 30 years old and everything seemed to start about 5 years ago but looking back it may have been longer. Am I on the right track you think?

I think you are on the right track. Remember, this is a curable condition, although nerves can be slow to heal and it can feel like it's taking forever. Work your way through out Tips page, and report back here on what helps.

Hello there again. I have been doing an insane amount of research and I was curious if I possibly have pudendal neuralgia? All of my symptoms match it to a T and I have been misdiagnosed many times before being diagnosed with prostatitis. It would explain all of my symptoms almost exactly. I know CPPS and prostatitis can overlap. I am still treating everything the same for now in terms of treatment approach. There happens to be a specialist in my area that has a sub specialty concerning pudendal nerve problems and on his website he talks about how important physical therapy is and how surgery should only be a very last resort so I thought about going to visit him to see if this could be part of my problem as addressing it now could help minimize any more damage or permanent damage to the nerves. I think that my pelvic muscles are pushing onto it. I made an appointment with the chiropractor to help release my pelvic floor muscles on top of getting back into PT, and have been doing acupuncture. I have been trying to get into the clinic to get a short course of benzodiazepines or muscle relaxers, the latter more likely due to my drug abuse history. I have also been slower tapering off of suboxone already for unrelated reasons and hope to be off of it in about 6 months time. The thing that sparked me to research and finally change everything was that I recently met someone and we hit it off but the fact that my numbness prevented me from feeling pleasure during intercourse unlocked a lot of emotional and psychological suffering. It is bittersweet but it’s a wake up call nonetheless…. My catastrophic thinking is out of control and making things worse.

My past 3-4 urologists never even did a PSA test or evaluated any expressed prostate fluids and it took awhile to get diagnosed with CPPS as my initial symptoms manifested as pain/ burning/tingling going through to the head of the penis. One thing that I noticed is my pupils can sometimes be out of focus and more dilated and I can start sweating and physically feeling bad as well as other symptoms which seem to be related to pudendal nerve issues.

What do you all think?

Also I am not sure how to message you directly I just wanted to let you know this website is literally the only hope I have had in the past 4 years and despite my anxiety and catastrophic thinking, the logical part of my brain really believes I can recover now. I would have never known about headache in the pelvis among other things I have learned here in the short time I have been here. I want this website to stay open and after I am able to go and pay for Dr. Wise’s in person therapy and if I improve even just a little to the point I know that I will have no problem continuing my work hours I would like to donate more than a little to help keep this place open as I know the budget is tight. I have not found any place like it on the internet and stumbled by accident. I genuinely believe it is saving peoples lives literally and figuratively. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart

I was curious about what your opinion on specifically the numbness in the glands of my penis is due to? I don’t seem to have a problem with getting erections but my lack of sensitivity is extreme and has noticeable gotten worse over the years. I have stinging/burning/shooting perennial pain that can also be in my testicles/penis/anus and lower back and my lower abdomen, and pins and needles in my feet and all of the pain seems to be anywhere the pudendal nerve is and can change areas. My main trigger seems to be orgasm or prolonged arousal. The pain can be completely manageable until I get a flare up. I struggled with constipation for years and have been doing miralax the past week which has made my stools very very soft. There always is usually pain on the underneath from my perineum to the base of my penis on the underside when I touch in that area. The de sensitivity seemed to be worse at first on the frenulum side of my glands than the other side. I was able to have somewhat enjoyable sex a few months ago and a few times over the past two years. When I initially get home I will get moments where the sensitivity in my glands returns to an extent but it quickly vanishes and I notice muscles tense up when I touch my glands and it seems to be related to the sensitivity diminishing. Even when there is almost no sensitivity it seems my muscles contract automatically when touching the glans. When masturbating the only way I am able to seem to achieve orgasm was by clenching my pelvic floor. I get no feeling of pleasure from doing it except for the brief moment before/during orgasm. Anyways I am doing everything possible at once and my main goal is to return some sensitivity if even just 20%. If my sensitivity gets just 10% better I don’t even mind dealing with the painful flare up’s that happen. It should be noted also that I was biking every day for the past two months or so. Biking seemed to set off all my pain again and make my sensitivity even worse and this is why I considered pudendal neuralgia on top of all my other symptoms. Is your opinion on pudendal neuralgia still the same that it is a pelvic floor issue?? I read all of your previous posts about it. I had sex that was somewhat pleasurable a few months ago and noticed it didn’t seem to make my pain worse but that was when I was on doxy which I know has anti-inflammatory properties. There have also been few times where masturbation did not seem to aggravate it. On old posts I read about how you said sexual flare ups tend to be more related to pelvic floor dysfunction rather than pudendal neuralgia. Anyways I am hoping to get a hold of Dr.wise tomorrow as we have been playing phone tag due to me working nights. As always thank you very much

I should also note that sensitivity can wane and gibb throughout the day and when I first get home I start doing my pelvic floor stretches and stuff. Is it a good sign that it’s not completely numb all the time and I have had pleasurable sex a few times? Does that mean the nerve is not severely damaged?

From the sound of you, you have a very hypertonic pelvic floor, and so you're a good fit with the Wise-Anderson Protocol. Your problem is neuromuscular in nature, so a temporary problem essentially, but one that can be chronic unless you start treating it appropriately. You can start by NOT tensing during sexual activity. See https://ucpps.men/viewtopic.php?t=627

Wow thank you so much I have been in the dumps because I researched pudendal neuralgia and it all seemed hopeless even though logically the pelvic dysfunction is there for sure. I am also realizing how much mental health help I am going to need on top as I have a lot of trauma. So far I have started quercetin and a few other supplements as well as stretching/electro acupuncture/light touching of anus to help train myself to relax the muscles. I am more hopeful now as I know I have had almost immediate sensitivity recovery in a short span after initially cycling (how ironic) probably because it made my muscles relax and promoted blood flow. I will report back later. I think the thing that threw me in a loop was doing my research on this forum I had not read a lot of success stories about people specifically having the numbness to the degree I generally have it. It’s funny cause mostly it’s people talking about literally every other symptom most of the time including ED whereas the numbness is my number 1 symptom of concern. It should be noted I do struggle with ED to an extent if it’s just me and stop and go ED during sex particularly if I wear a condom which blocks the very light sensitivity I may be feeling. I thought my lack of sensitivity was due to my medication for awhile but if so it would have stayed at near or the same level. Anyways I hope you are doing well webslave! Also what kind of exercise can I use to replace biking? I heard jogging and squats and some abdominal stuff may be a bad idea… exercise is vital to my mental health and I want to get the blood flowing to my muscles and nerves

I wouldn't worry about Anderson being there or not. Any knowledgeable urologist can perform the examination Rod Anderson did/used to do.

The exercise I recommend is vigorous walking. You can do it for life and it does not damage the joints. ✅ Avoid squats and swimming in chlorinated pools.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.
