Alcohol and extreme pain

Post by silsurf »

I have been dealing with ongoing intermittent pain issues that are certainly UCPPS related. I stopped drinking full time about 6 months ago. Last night I had a 1/2 glass of sake and had a pretty bad overnight with what I call "episodes", basically incapable of initiating a flow coupled with extreme pain in shaft and tip lasting 30-40 minutes.

I get that I really cannot drink anymore and that is fine, but if for some reason I have an episode like this for another reason, what steps might I try to start peeing??

What I know works is movement. If I get up from bed and sit on the toilet it takes longer to initiate a flow than it does if I walk around a bit and do a few squats first. In the case last night I went through this cycle three times (woke up, walked, squatted, sat on toilet, no pee) over the course of a few hours until I finally urinated.
2022 - I have been struggling with pain in my bladder, urethra, pelvic area for about two years. Was diagnosed with BPH originally. Have had cystoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasound, and an cat-scan all with no issues discovered. Have never had any bacterial issues in my urine. I feel confident that UCPPS related issues are what is going on. My pain is relatively consistent, modulating up and down through the day and night. 61 y/o

If you really cannot pee, and it becomes painful, it's a genuine medical emergency and so don't be embarrassed to go to an ER and get a catheter inserted. Quick, painless, immediate relief.

Mostly, avoid alcohol!
