Looking for good meditation audio

Post by adamsteckler »

Anyone have a good meditation audio or video they liked using for pelvic pain? I’ve read Headache in the Pelvis but I don’t really get how to do extended relaxation. Just looking to get started with meditation to see if it helps relieve some of the symptoms.

Thanks
Adam

You can also do headspace though its shorter time frames.

Also don't beat yourself up if you can't do like the 4-6 hours it recommends. Even when it felt like my life was in ruins I only made it about 2 hours. These days I just do 15 minutes of paradoxical relaxation and that is just for the mental benefits.

Redub - may I ask you on how do you do paradoxical relaxation? Any links or YouTube videos that I can follow?

Sorry, I never used an audio or video assist for paradoxical relaxation. With how I do it I don't even see how it would work because some parts of it might take a few seconds and some parts might take a minute or so... and I also 'reset' a lot. Basically how I do it is:
  1. Lay down with a facemask on (or something else to block the light like a towel).
  2. Start from the top of my head and try to relax each body part. For example I'll start with my forehead. Once it feels relaxed move to the my eyes (I carry tension there big time). Then my jaw, neck, shoulders, upper arms, lower arms, hands, chest, upper back, lower back, abs, glutes, pelvis, hamstrings, quads, calves, feet.
Some important notes:
  1. Meditation is a skill so it won't be easy at first but you get better with practice. Your mind is going to wander a lot. Don't get angry, just reset. Even as you get better there will be some days that are harder than others.
  2. If you come across a body part you can't seem to relax then just move on. I often had to skip the pelvic region and then come back and then just ignore it.
  3. If you do it long enough you will eventually enter a weird state. When I was doing it for like 2 hours time felt slow at first then all of a sudden my alarm would go off and it was like time travel.

This is very helpful man - thank you so much! I can relate to the weird state - it happened to me once and I was trying so hard to reach that state again; but I think, trying hard should not be part of this relaxation! This is a great advice - I will follow - thanks again!
