Prostatitis and Diet

Post by rcalab »

I have been diagnosed with non-bacterial prostatitis, and have had this condition for 3 months now. I tried Cipro (two weeks) and Levaquin (two weeks) with little improvement. I am also taking anti-inflammatories (vioxx). The only thing that has helped with the pain (which incidentely is strictly limited to the tip of my penis) has been acupuncture. Yet I have noticed that diet seems to make a difference and certain foods I eat do cause flare ups. Spicey foods, which I now avoid, but also I am finding that cheese is causing a bad reaction. I have switched to an organic diet, bought organic cheese (pasteurized), and still had a reaction. I simply can't understand how cheese can effect this condition. This is extremely frustrating as it is difficult to know what foods to avoid, and I continually read conflicting reports on this topic.

Help!!!

Milk products are one of the classic allergen groups. Most allergies as food intolerances are caused by milk, wheat, shellfish, nuts, and a few other items. Milk also contains cow pus cells that can irritate the immune system.

I don't drink milk or eat cheese any more for these reasons.

It depends on whether you have any allergies or sensitivities to nuts. This differs from individual to individual. Some people with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome have no problems with food.

Mark - do you have a good URL where I can read more fully about that?
