@ ddd: May I ask how the Moxi treatment was for you? Did you have any side effects?

amnesia:
I was on Moxi for 3 weeks. I've been off moxi now for more than 2 weeks, but symptoms still remain (urethritis, swelling/discomfort of bladder, right testicle pain). If the cause of my symptoms is still bacterial, then it didn't seem to have worked too well. Moxi is not indicated for treating these conditions, but I've been prescribed off-label as research showed it has strong in-vitro activity against ureaplasma which I tested positive for.
As for side effects, yes I did experience some pain in the muscle and joints (arm, achilles). At one point it got pretty bad I thought of quitting, but went away overnight, and until now I haven't seen any complications. But the side effects can be real so I would advise to only take as a drug of last resort.

@ ddd: That’s why I was asking. Btw, Moxi is also recommended as last line of defense against Mycoplasma Genitalium (though there now exist two new antibiotics which however only are available in France and the US respectively). Thus my comment that you really took extensive antibiotics.

Would like to hear updates from you as our cases are somewhat similar. I’m currently thinking of what my next steps will be.

Since my last post I have done a few tests, so here's an update:

Testicular ultrasound: minor calcification seen in both testes, mild varicocele in left teste.
Bladder/kidney ultrasound: no significant findings

Urinalysis: normal parameters

DNA test (urine + prostatic fluid from massage), done 5 weeks after being off of antibiotics.
Negative for:
Haemophilus ducreyi
Chlamydia trachomatis
Neisseria Gonorrhea
Ureaplasma urealyticum
Mycoplasma genitalium
Mycoplasma hominis
Trichomonas vaginalis
Ureaplasma parvum
Gardnerella vaginalis
Candida albicans
Enterococcus faecalis
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
E.coli
Enterococcus faecium
Staphylococcus aureus
Klebsiella oxytoca
Proteus mirabilis
Staphylococcus saprophyticus
Streptococcus (Group B)
Klebsiella pneumoniae
Prevotella
Peptostreptococcus
Veillonella

Positive for: Corynebacterium - never quite heard of this bacteria. There seems to be some literature suggesting its potential pathogenic role in urogenital/pelvic diseases, although not well established.

My main symptoms continue to be:
- Scrotal pain: both specific (epididymis/testes sensitive and painful to touch) and generalized (discomfort in the general "scrotal area" - oftentimes the sides, potentially related to varicocele)
- Persistent pressure/burning/discomfort near the prostate and surrounding area (between the belly and base of penis)
- Skin problems: itch, redness, skin peeling in penis glans (circumcised), scrotum, and perineum.

Corynebacteria thrive after you've nuked the prostate with antibiotics, as you have. I don't believe they are pathogenic because they are known commensals.

Your other symptoms, like peeling glans, redness etc are probably neurological in origin.

Sorry, no quick fixes, no pill that will take it all away magically.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.
