Hey everyone, first post here. I'm a 29 yr old male.
So I'm currently being treated for prostatitis. The tests I have had so far were a urinalysis, which came back negative and I am still awaiting the results of my full blood panel. In the mean time, I had a prostate exam which revealed nothing abnormal. Currently taking Bactrim on Day 5.
Some of my symptoms...
Frequently urinating in the night. Usually at least once sometimes more than that. If anything else wakes me up, I will feel the urge to go before I can go back to sleep.
Dribble after peeing. I just ignored this for awhile and wrapped up with TP. Its not a tremendous amount but all it takes is a few drops.
I would say my flow is pretty weak, perhaps because I have to go so frequently. I can rarely pee for more than 10 seconds at a time.
Pain in the coccyx. This symptom didn't show up until about a month ago. I attributed it to working out and having a really uncomfortable couch which led to me sitting on the floor. One day after a hard day of legs at the gym, I noticed the pain. It was very intense for a period of time, particularly sitting down/standing up. Coccyx cushions have helped relieve that pain, but it seems to come and go. Just when I think there is no pain, it comes back again, but only when sitting. I can press on the coccyx while standing with no pain whatsoever so I no longer think it is a bone bruise like I had originally thought.
Right now keeping myself in a good mental state appears to be the most important thing. Its hard because I am not able to exercise like I would like (I enjoy lifting weights) and I feel fatigued from not getting recuperative sleep. Xanax has been helping but I can't keep taking them. Coincidentally I quit smoking marijuana about 2 weeks ago and wasn't sure if that was causing my night sweats/cold chills and still am not sure. I was so depressed yesterday since I can't do any of the things I enjoy that I smoked some more and actually it made me feel a lot better. Yet at the same time worse for going back to something I just gave up.
Any advice, words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Praying that these antibiotics help.

Re: Being treated for prostatitis
Squats and similar exercises can flare up symptoms, so avoid for a while.
Cannabis can be a trigger for pain as well; again, avoid.

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Re: Being treated for prostatitis
First I would recommend you read the Wise and Andersons book "A Headache in the Pelvis" it is a great place to help unravel your CPPS issues if that is what you have. Secondly if you have a physiotherapist that has experience treating CPPS get into see them ASAP they can really help you a lot.
And third stay positive and don't mope or ruminate about your pain issue over and over again in your mind, that is so counterproductive and a barrier to getting better. Hang in there, my pain and mental state about it landed me in hospital in December as nobody had diagnosed it properly and it got the better of me. I am not pain free but am much better now
regards Walt
